Will McCain vote "no" on the bill now?
He knows the house already said no. He knows that it will likely pass the Senate with or without him, and that Obama will likely vote "yea"... So does he take the "maverick" course and vote no just to take the opposite? Then turn and say "Obama wants to steal your money and give it to Wall Street!!!" Regardless of the fact that he was supporting the bill just days earlier?

3. Silly, mcPOW doesn't actually vote anymore.

He hasn't cast a vote since April 8th, all so he can take the politically advantageous position after the fact, sometimes he claims to be on both sides of a bill. Without a vote, he just lies. He is yellow and will bail on this on too.

6. Of course not. But it would let him attack Obama on it.
However, he better not, since he would appear to be a complete hypocrite.

7. Pfffft... that never stopped him before.
I can see him having a "last minute change of heart" on this. I really can.

10. Given that the majority of the country is strongly against the bill - it is completely possible

I don't know if he will do it, but he might.

14. I've yet to see a poll saying America is strongly against it.
The latest poll had voters saying they think Congress should pass it by 45%, to 44% should do nothing.

18. The extreme right and left are against it, moderates on the other hand
are more likely to support it IMO.

16. And where did you get this figure? Please provide.
The country is divided over this bill and the market plummet is increasing sentiment toward a governmental solution. Or perhaps you just enjoy arguing with old information.

21. Would you stop being such an ass to anyone who disagrees with you on this?
here...

In a recent USA Today/Gallup, just 22 percent of the sample said they wanted Congress to "pass a plan similar to what the Bush Administration has proposed" while 56 percent wanted Congress to pass something "different" (although what that different plan would be was not made clear) and 11 percent wanted Congress to take no action at all.

The results were slightly more mixed in a New York Times/CBS News poll where 42 percent said they approved of the government's financial rescue plan while 46 disapproved, and in the Post/ABC poll where 44 percent expressed approval for the plan and 42 percent disapproved.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/the_failure_of_the_financial.html?nav=rss_blog

Now stop acting like people are assholes for daring to see things differently then you on this. The first poll supports the poster that you're jumping on. The others support you. It's not like the poster was pulling shit out of their ass, and arguing with "old information". People have a lot of mixed feelings on this and you need to chill the fuck out and stop being a prick to those that see this differently.

Alert away.

22. You did not happen to see this poster's earlier blatherings, apparently.
But your tantrum is duly noted. And so is the fact that a "vast majority of Americans opposing" this legislation is a fucking LIE. Carry on.

You're jumping all over me when I haven't said word fucking one to you in this thread. Why don't you go take some of your own "advice?" You're the one going off on crazy ad hominems. I accused that poster of using outdated information to make her point (and I was right), and you jump down MY throat? What a hypocrite.

26. I showed a poll that supported her assertion.
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 05:51 PM by Forkboy
I showed one that also supported your assertion. The point being that you both could be right. However, you only accept that you are right, and you've been a true ass to everyone disagreeing with you for three days now. What you're seeing from me is just a taste of what you've been doing to multiple people for days now, and you don't like it...which was the whole point. Sometimes people need a mirror held up to them to see how shitty they're acting. Now maybe you'll understand my approach to you. Hope springs eternal.

11. I predicted this morning he would vote no on this.
I've also heard him interviewed on NPR and other places, and he has yet to say unequivocally that he will support this. He is saying *something* must be done, and he won't say that the consequences will be dire if a bill isn't passed in the very near future. The more I hear him on this, the more convinced I am that he is going to vote against it, and use it as the McGambit 3.0.

17. I fail to see the political advantage of a "no" vote, especially with additional tax cuts added in.
Frankly, I don't know where the guy stands on ANYTHING. I mean really, he is one big effing enigma of stupid.

19. It would help drive home the "Mavericky" image he is trying to cultivate
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 04:54 PM by SurfingAtWork
It would also make his rabid base happy in their pants, while at the same time he could spin it as something he was doing in the name of populism, which in theory could help him with independents and centrist democrats... he just couldn't bail out the fat cats on wall street, while mainstreet was suffering so much... or something pukey like that.

If McCain hadn't made a complete fool of himself last week, then he would be politically safe. He tripped himself up big time.

Anything to get the attention. I 100% wouldn't put it beyond him, not for one second. Another crazy gimmick...
