He went out on the stump supporting McCain while failing to acknowledge Obama. Did you even see him making the rounds over the last two weeks? Obama is better off without Bill's misguided help, period.

PLUS some of those articles were edited by the media to make it seem Clinton was even more blah about Obama.

96. That's a lame excuse and you know it.
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 06:32 PM by ClarkUSA
During each and every interview last week, Bill looked as if he just sucked on a lemon when Obama's name came up.
Chris Rock had it down - Bill could barely spit out Barack's name and avoided doing so at every opportunity; Bill
pointedly turned down a chance to say Obama is a great man though he had no problem repeatedly saying that
about that sack of stinking shit named McCain; Bill said he understood how "hot" Palin was because she was so
"gutsy and real and had a great story"; Bill sympathized how McCain was a "real maverick" who chose to run at
the wrong time, etc.

Yeah, sure. He's so misunderstood. Not.

62. I think the same applies for both side - the Ultra-Obama and the Ultra-Clinton
Sometimes, I think that I could be considered an Ultra-Obama type and I end up blocking out other well intentioned arguments or intricacies in a certain policy or course of action. Same can be said of the Ultra-Clinton types, except once they start (at least around here), they become so vitriolic and hateful that it turns a bad situation even worse. Plus, Bill hasn't exactly been our greatest asset as of late as far as our party goes.

That being said, Bill gave a masterful speech today and was exactly what we needed. Sure, he could have been a little more gracious to Obama personally, but this is about winning and his speech went a long way to helping us to that end.

83. Your answer lies in my previous post.
Shall we recap? "I would prefer nothing from him rather than his unreliable mercurial support." (That's "I" as in me; you'll have to ask Obama for his opinion.)

unreliable Adjective
* not able to be trusted or relied on

mercurial Adjective
* unpredictable

You're welcome.

88. Actually, other than his convention speech, I don't think Bill has made actual
campaign appearances for Obama. The interviews that he gave in the last couple of weeks that has everyone upset were to promote his Global Initiative, not campaign events. If he didn't speak as strongly for Obama as some wished, it was because he was representing a non political organization.

Any hint of criticism of a Clinton action give these P***As license to attack the Dem nominee, or those who support the nominee (usually while throwing around the word "haters", to show their level of analysis).
There's no other group of "X supporters" who act like that, thank the great Koot Hoomi.

98. To anyone who suggests that they can hold those "18 million votes" against the Dem party:
you are wrong.

That's not the way it works. Someone might well think that because *they* voted for X out of hatred for Y, so *everyone* who voted for X might be considered to be in some measure against Y, after Y won. Such a person might think she can speak for 18 million voices - however wrong that is. In this case, not even Hillary Clinton can rightly say that she speaks for 18 million voices, aside from the fact that 18 million people cast their ballot in her favor in such and such circumstances.

31. Bill is not preaching to the CONVERTED. We could use some of those recalcitrant HRC voters...
and by saying, Hillary Sent Me, he is talking to THEM. Different surrogates aim at different voting groups.

I know Bill has had some problems accepting the results of the primary campaign, but I say let him try to bring some of that percentage of Clinton voters back into the Dem fold.

And while he's at it, just his presence out there reminds people of how much better things were when he was in the White House. That is another group of voters he's speaking to, as only he can.

He's a great politician. Let him do his stuff. Obama is also a great politician. We need them both.

44. Thank you, Bill, for saying this bill doesn't do enough for those struggling to stay in their homes-
and that Barack Obama will do something about it when he is elected president. He mentioned Hillary's idea of creating an agency like the RTC to help folks refinance their mortgages--called HOLC, in this case. A great idea!

49. I'm sure this is just the start of Bill's stumping.
This is the perfect time to get both the Clinton's out there.

And Florida is the PERFECT place to for him to go. He's the last democrat to LEGALLY carry Florida. With Obama's number up in FL, Bill can help seal the deal.

50. I thought the speech was terrific...
and the best part is that the Obama campaign is beginning to pour it on just as the polls are starting to show the race widening in Obama's favor. This campaign is absolutely brilliant. The crescendo continues to build...fasten your seat belts people!

your magic for me in Arkansas and don't leave Arkansas until after the statewide victory party in Little Rock on November 5."

57. I'm conflicted about Bill as of late, but this was a stirring and masterful speech
I'll put aside my reservations about him today, because this was a masterful speech and hit home at exactly what we need to be focusing on right now.

Thanks Bill & Hillary.

74. i didn't and i'll believe people when they say he did a good job.
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 01:24 PM by dionysus
my issue with bill isn't that he'll get in front of a Dem rally, essentially "the choir", and put forth a good speech. no problem there.

it's that he'll follow that up by going on TV, which reaches fence sitters and what have you, and kiss up to the GOP ticket.

which of these two activities has more influence?

he's inconsistent and it's a pattern.

97. You realize that
the TV appearances last week were NOT on behalf of the Obama campaign, right?

The appearances were to promote his BIPARTISAN Global Initiative. It would be a little awkward to go on TV and bash Republicans up the yahoo when he is trying to get their support for a very important initiative, doncha think?

103. Well, I guess that depends
on what your definition of "kiss their butts" is. If it means being fair and non partisan, then yes. If it means never saying a good word about anything Republican, then I guess not. Of course that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it?

I watched a good portion of his speech and it worked for me...and more important, for Barack.
Remember the I4 corridor is VIP for Florida. We want to be the redemption state in 2008. Thanks Bill you looked c`ool on a hot day.
