She doesn't read newspapers or magazines, people...
She does read the John Birch Society newsletter. We know that for a fact.

She doesn't concern herself with world events because Alaska is isolated and there's no reason to worry about what the rest of the world is doing.

Any average intelligent involved person would immediately say their hometown newspaper followed by The New York Times, USA Today or Wall Street Journal, which are typically available in boxes in major cities or are given away at hotels, and for magazines, Time or Newsweek followed by the more famous business magazines.

The reason she froze is... she reads tabloids and People magazine and women's magazines. She didn't want to reveal that. She's a HOCKEY MOM, ladies and gentlemen. NOT A WORLD LEADER. And she went into cover-up mode because of that, and refused to answer Couric's repeated question.

1. She's not an average intelligent involved person.
She's a Joe Six Pack American.

4. I think she's being coached to give off that exact image...
in order to connect with their perception of "low-information voters"

2. I would even accept that she reads alot of newspapers online.
Nothing wrong with that. We read alot of online papers as a matter of conservation and practicality. It just bugs the hell out me that her source of political info is that JBS rag. She should have named something for general information about current events.

3. It was such an easy soft-ball question
ANYONE should be able to fire back an instant answer...that is..if they do indeed read.
You're probably right, her reading material is most likely just entertaining fluff and she didn't want to admit it.
When she froze, she was probably thinking, "Oh shit, if I make something up and blurt out a respectable daily, what if Couric wants more specifics, like my favorite columnist?"
She's simply a trashy, mean, no-nothing idiot.
