I just got home and when i pulled up my neighbor has a "Vote yes on prop 8" sign
and i felt like crying, i already have signs but i felt so defeated.

Prop 8 for those who don't know is "To protect marriage" from Teh Gays.

1. Why in the hell did I not know you live in CA?
I thought you lived in the Houston area, for some reason.

Me = dummy

That sign is depressing, btw. :-(

3. I actually got into a back and forth exchange with someone while driving on the freeway
the other day. They had a yes on 8 bumper sticker so I honked and honked until I got his attention. :D

I didn't get through to him, but I tried. It was difficult yelling back and forth from different vehicles going 60mph. He acted like there's no discrimination going on, said gays are protected under some other act. Whatever.

I live in a very gay neighborhood in L.A. and that was the first Yes on 8 sign I saw and that was while driving to the Valley. A guy a couple houses up from me has a bumper sticker that says: "Marriage is totally gay". :)

On another note, I do resent having to constantly hear the Yes on 8 ads on my local PROGRESSIVE radio station. On the one hand, yes that's very progressive of them to allow it on, free speech and all that. On the other hand it's against progressive's values!

54. I am wondering do any of you Californians feel that the
'gay marriage' law was put in by Arnold just so it could be a wedge issue this election, or do you think he was sincere in putting it in? I am torn on this but have leaned toward the wedge issue as his reason ever since it got put into action.

Especially after having attracted the attention of your debate partner by "honking and honking" . . . seems an unlikely way to "get through to him."

Actually it sounds like a way to "get dead in a traffic accident."

Just sayin'.

I was a little surprised to see that there were polls showing it could pass. I hope it fails. If California bans gay marriage, there won't be much hope for the rest of the states. California (along with Mass.) needs to lead the way toward equality. Be positive...it will fail, it will fail.

I don't see any Yes signs, but I'm in SF, so not too surprising. I have seen the occasional McCain sign in the Seacliff neighborhood, but we're pretty safely blue.

I'm giving a big donation to No on 8 tomorrow...and I'm happy to say PG&E gave I think it was $250,000 to it...a lot of people are disgusted and frankly just confused. My brother is gay, and there was a 50/50 shot of me being able to marry or not...and like Jon Stewart said, "are they going to make me have the man sex? Cause if they aren't, why do I care?"

Weird. People are just weird.

56. I've been seeing those idiotic "Yes on 8" TV ads recently.
In essence they are trying here in CA what the McCain campaign tried against Obama a month ago.

These "Yes on 8" ads are saying that if same-sex marriage is upheld, that kids will be taught in school how to have homosexual relationships and actually be encouraged to have them. :eyes:

That smacks of that thing the McCain campaign tried last month claiming that Obama wanted to teach sex education to first graders or some such nonsense.
