He may have been a hero at one time, but John McCain is a coward now.
He's too cowardly to face the real issues, the tough issues facing America. Instead, he goes for the quick and easy - and utterly false - character charges.

He's too cowardly to stand up and straightforwardly make the worst of the smears himself and sends whats-her-name, MooseLady, out to do his dirty work for him. What a man! What a man! What a macho, macho man! Sniveling coward.

And he's too freaking cowardly to repeat any of his slimy, sleazy, gutter smears of Barack Obama to the man's face.

I don't hate John McCain. I feel nothing but utter contempt for him. Whatever he may have been, he's a pathetic chickenshit coward now.

1. He was never a hero.
He crashed his plane, was taken prisoner and lived to tell about it. How does that make him a hero?

2. Republicans have low standards for themselves....
Doing the bare minimum of what you're supposed to do = HERO

If you're a Democrat, and you pull a man out of the water while you are under enemy gunfire = coward and traitor.

4. You make an excellent point.
I agree with you that merely being captured doesn't make you a hero at all. I've heard several vastly different stories about his time as a POW. Some make him sound heroic, others the opposite.

I generally give him the benefit of the doubt on that just because it's not a point I know enough to argue and in the end doesn't matter to me. His behavior now is what matters to me and his behavior now is despicable.
