The dangerous line

I think there is a difference between "free speech" and downright misleading of the public.
Free speech isn't free if the method for delivering speech is bought off.

The lie based hate that is spewed by FOX and talk radio hopefully will not incite the unthinkable towards Obama, but I am not sure.

When, as a society, do we step in and say enough is enough?
Where is the line between "free speech" and the inciting of violence due to hyper propaganda that equates those they hate with terrorists?

1. sadly, lying is covered
what we need is not a restriction on that - despite liking the idea - because it would be near impossible to enforce.

What we need is the strength to stand up and use our own free speech to point out the lies until those things no longer work. The problem is, that just becomes a game of "tit for tat" for those who don't know which side is telling the truth.

2. Free speech does NOT....
...give a person to yell "fire" in a crowded theatre. That's what Palin/McCain are doing.

3. it's no longer just the radio and fox. those rallies are firing up tons
of hate. if Obama happened upon one of mcpali's rallies, i would certainly fear mob viloence. if mcshame has any patriotism or decency left, he will stand up TODAY and call for rationality. instead, purely in self serving interest, he will continue to whip up this frenzy of hatred. this has become unbelievably ugly. how will the rest of the world, or even our own kids see us if mcshame is elected now?

5. "Inciting to violence" is already against the law, isn't it?
