Poll question: Tough Question: Who would have been the better President for the past 8 years?
Assuming, of course that it had to be a Republican in that office. (obviously Gore or Kerry would have been highly preferable)

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.

1. I voted for Johnny--a McCain administration's reaction to 9/11...
...would be a truly frightening thing to behold.

7. Frightening to Bin Laden or you?
I'm a bit confused by your reply as you said that you voted McCain would have been the better President.

2. Strangely Enough, I Have to Vote Bush
McCain seems even more warlike and more clueless about the economy than our dear leader.

Maybe. It's a tough call for me.

11. I agree! I found myself voting for Bush
McCain is mentally unstable, and I doubt he would have survived his cancer during his first term (which would have put Palin as President).

That's a good point.

3. I'd like to think McCain would've followed up on the PDB about Bin Laden.
So I guess I'd go with McCain. It's just difficult to imagine anyone more inept than Bush.

4. Are we talking McCain of 2000 or McCain of 2008?
McCain of 2000 probably would have been a fine president... not good, but not bad either. McCain of 2008.... ack!

I didn't see anything being worse for this country than another Bush in the White House. But the John McCain of 1999 doesn't exist anymore, if he ever did. And who knows exactly when he lost it?

10. McCain is pragmantic, Bush is dogmatic
A McCain administration would have been more compromising on the issues.

16. McSame. In 2000 he was still something of a maverick.
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 09:13 PM by TOJ
He wouldn't have committed us to a trillion-dollar war, wouldn't have Cheney as VP, wouldn't have turned the executive branch into a religious organization, and would have been much more engaged than Smirky.

20. I Can't Vote On This One!
I truly don't think that McCain has changed that much over the past eight years. In my opinion, I think that I bought into the "maverick" thing about him back then without really getting a true measure of the man. As it was, I was actually willing to give him my vote if he had prevailed in the primaries. My apologies to Al Gore because at the time I was under the impression that he was a bore. Knowing what I do now about Al Gore, I am sure he would have been a fine president that would have been looked on in history with considerable kindness and respect.

P.S. Yes, I did vote for Gore.....no effin' way would I have ever voted for the village idiot

22. Tough choice, but I had to go with McCain. The lessor of two
evils. He may have done less damage than President Cheney. No that wasn't a typo - I always say Prez Cheney and his puppet Bush.

I would vote Bush alone over McCain, McCain over Bush/Cheney.

25. I think McCain has been exposed more than he has changed
I fully believe McCain would be worse than Bush. McCain is will of the wind, surrounds himself with inept hacks, and makes Cheney look like a dove.

It appears the Republicans made gave us the lesser of two evils as incredible as that is to think.
