I'm gonna say it: LAND SLIDE
McCain's campaign is disintegrating.

RNC members are running away from MCCAIN (where they were previously running away from Bush).

McCain has totally destroyed his last chance at preventing a landslide by inciting his base into an angry witch-hunting mob.

Now, in a moment of doubt, McCain is backpedalling on what he's done and his base is pissed with him for it.

McCain's campaign has not only damaged his chances, but many GOP senator's chances of keeping their seats.

There is just over 3 weeks before the election. Obama's campaign is doing everything right.

I think we have to start asking will this be the end of the GOP?

1. 2010 will be the end of the GOP.
They'll be out of power for a generation.

2. Careful there
We'll be lucky if the economy has recovered by then - the GOP could blame us for not fixing it fast enough. On the other hand, I doubt they will be organized enough to do anything, and big money may very well abandon them since their power on the federal level will be tiny.

3. they will be loaded for bear in 2012. that is the one to be worried about
so let's stay focused on finishing THIS job...giving some great PR to the Dems with what they are able to accomplish ANDDDDDDD holding them accountable.

GOP letdown was their own followers bought everything sight unseen. They didn't ask for or demand accountability.

7. I'm not so sure about that
There is going to be a hugely bloody civil war among the repukes with the neocons and fundies on one side and the economic royalists and last handful of moderates on the other. One tag-team will not survive as a part of the party.

6. I'm not.
While I really want Obama to win, I never underestimate the power of stupidity.

But I hope you are right, but we can't get complacent. The last thing we want is voters staying home because they think Obama has it in the bag.

8. Landslide?- maybe--but 2010 will be a tough year
We will not be through with crisis and some people's support of Obama will wane. 2010 may be a year we lose seats in Congress. Don't plan the Repugs funeral yet.

16. The end of the GOP? No way.
I think we will get a landslide and we should. But in 2 or 4 or 8 years from now - if we are able to start putting the wreckage back together (and I say "if" because I'm an optimist)the GOP will be back with it's usual message.

They cater to the worst in human nature (AKA greed, hatred, bigotry, fear, division) and that never goes away.
