Rope a Dope Strategy - Younger vs Older Ali
If I recall correctly Ali in his later fights used it as a defensive measure and won decisions by scoring enough points in the later rounds. When he used it earlier in his career he took the early round body blows but them came out with a flurry and finished off his opponent, he went for the KO or TKO.

Is McCain/Palin set up for the flurry?
Will Obama/Biden go for the KO?

1. I do get the feeling they are holding their fire
for now.

BO has reminded me a lot of Mohammed Ali, with his strategy, patience, confidence, and guts.

3. I'm confused by this metaphor
Maybe you could spell it out for me.

Is McCain supposed to the be Older Ali?

Or is Obama the younger Ali?

I'm Genuinely clueless

4. Both are Obama
The difference being, when Ali was mid to late career he used the Rope a Dope to allow big hitters like Foreman to land body shots. Then after about five rounds Ali would just go off, hitting the tired fighter unmercifully and secured a decisive victory through a TKO or KO. At the end of his career Ali would use it a bit more intermittently, winning some early points, going rope a dope, winning some points in mid rounds, going rope a dope, winning late rounds ending up with a judges decision. Ali didn't have as much in him at the time but still used it effectively for a win, as compared to his earlier years where he just beat the living shit out of his opponent.
