Got a visit from an Obama Canvasser today
Just wanted to report that today, in Military housing in San Diego, My house was visited by an Obama Canvasser. We (my wife and I) are happy to report that we were very pleased to tell this nice woman that Obama could count on our support. I don't recall in 18 years of living in Military Housing ever having a canvasser stop by for either party! We're gonna win this thing!!!!!

2. Kinda Funny...
The military times reports overwhelming support for McCrash, but I don't see that in my neighborhood, or on my ship. Just like '04, I don't think the military is solidly in a lock for the repug.

3. I've seen many reports where so
many in the military are for Obama and why wouldn't they want a CIC who levels with them by giving them facts instead of "WMD"?

Thanks Again:)

4. True enough....
I haven't bought into the bullshit since before the 2000 primaries. I was telling people back then that if Bush got into office, we'd be back in Iraq in a year. Nobody believed me then, but they sure believe me now. I'm just perplexed by who the military times interviewed or polled to get the idea that 77% would vote for McCrash.

I've got about 12 people in my division, and more than half openly support Obama, with only one person willing to admit that they are voting McCain. Seems like that is a recurring theme through most of the younger, junior personnel. I'm 38, and I'm fairly influencial on a personal basis with my troops, so maybe the fact that when politics gets brought up, I feed them facts, instead of the chicken-hawk lies.

10. Military personell sent 6 times more money to Obama than McCain
and the military in my family support him all the way. Seems to me, if they supported McCain they would send their money to him.

12. Makes me wonder...
Where did military press find this so called 77% that are voting for him? Reverse Bradley effect maybe?

7. I know what you mean...
My wife was telling the canvasser that I was unavailable because I was watching my Nebraska Cornhuskers play, as soon as I heard "person for Obama at the door" I jumped up and went and told them how excited we were to be voting for him :)

14. I thought so too...
I haven't been able to catch a game all year so far, because they've either been unavailable, or I was coaching my Son's pop warner team.

6. That's fantastic! Did the canvasser indicate the level of support they were receiving
in your neighborhood?

8. No, they didn't...
Sadly, I forgot to ask. I wanted to confirm with them what I've been observing. They were happy to provide a voter registration form so my wife could switch over (from repub to dem...long story), and I would have loved to ask about the neihborhood support. I guess I just got caught up in the moment. I've been of voting age for 20 years, and I've never been this enthusiastic about getting to vote :)

9. Obama canvassers are supposed to try to visit or call every undecided and leaning voters
by the election. That is every registered voter who is listed in our database that has not expressed a definite choice. Every. Single. Voter.

Think about it - the Obama campaign should know by Nov. 4 how every voter that we can contact claims they will vote, if we volunteers do our jobs.

We had a big strategy meeting this morning and then sent out canvassing teams. I think this is happening all over the country.

Welcome to DU, NavyDem! :patriot:

I've been here quite a while :) Weird though, we never get political calls, but have both been decided on Obama for quite some time.
