Palin leads crowd to calling Obama (and Dems) "the bad guys"
<snip>

Help me, Ohio, to help put John McCain in the White House,” she said. “He understands. He understands you. We understand how important it is that this team be elected. For one thing, we know who the bad guys are, OK?”

That statement elicited scattered shouts of “Obama!” throughout the crowd.

“We know that in the war, it’s terrorists, terrorists who hate America and her allies and would seek to destroy us, and the bad guys are those who would support and sympathize with the terrorists,” she said. “They do not like America because of what we stand for. Liberty. Freedom. Equal rights. Those who sympathize and support those terrorists who would seek to destroy all that it is that we value, those are the bad guys, OK?”

Was Palin suggesting that Barack Obama and Joe Biden don’t understand the terrorist threat? Who exactly were the “bad guys” Palin was referring to? A spokesperson for the campaign would only say that the governor was describing “nations that sympathize with terrorists, period.”

The vice presidential nominee pressed on and pointed the finger at more bad guys — the “greedy and corrupt and arrogant” mavens of Wall Street and Washington who, she said, have pushed the nation’s economy to the brink.

“We know who the good guys are, and it is you, and we will fight for you, and we will put government on your side,” she promised. “We will end the arrogant and the selfish practices of Washington and of Wall Street because your United States government is to be of the people, by the people, for the people.”

5. This woman is out of control. The more we learn about her tenure in Alaska, it's not surprising.
She is dangerous. She is inciting violence. She is putting not only our candidates at risk, but quite frankly, after watching some of these videos of her supporters, I think she is putting anyone who supports Obama at risk. She is completely out of control and if McCain won't be honorable enough to remove her from his ticket, not only is he also responsible, but then I think it is incumbent upon the RNC to step in and remove this dangerous person from their ticket.

Don't hold your breath. The RNC has embraced "the evil" that this woman is spewing. With rare exception, the RNC is either going to FORCE their will on America, or we're going to have to "stay strong" against their vicious RACIST rhetoric.

Follow Obama's lead - he's spot on.

Seriously. I watched this rally live and she was Katie Couric-bad at times. Especially cringe-worthy was the awkward, brainfart pause just before the "those are the bad guys, OK?" capper. It was reminiscent of the GWB "Fool me once" gaffe.

These AREN'T the people you want to be wasting your time with this close to the election! Look at Obama--he was out canvassing door to freaking door in Holland, Ohio and you can bet he did not only knock on Dem's doors. That's smart. It's the fence sitters you have to get now. And that's what Obama is doing.

One good thing about this is that, for all her so-called skill in communications and on TV, she's such a lamebrain that only the most dedicated Repub mouth-breathers will heed her call to vote to save themselves from the evil terrorist Obama. Thoughtful people who for whatever reason are still on the fence are seeing what an unfunny joke the GOP has played.

or she is a vitriolic fool. One of those folks who is given hard evidence that what they are doing isn't working, and is counterproductive, but who feels so righteous in her actions, continues to do the same thing.

Of course this isn't surprising. Given the report out on the troopergate scandal - on that she and her minions were warned many times to cease and desist or risk not only making the state of Alaska liable for a costly law suit, but also those individuals engaging in the intimidation.

Reading her latest "5 minutes hate" is making me excessively angry - which is what I think they are trying to do. This has been the GOP MO ever since 9/11. We aren't supposed to question the patriotism of Republicans even though they are war profiteering, torture supporting, Constitution trashers. They tell the public that questioning the idiotic civilian command policies is the very same thing as criticizing soldiers in harms way. Total cowardice...hiding behind soldiers to evade accountability.

As far as I can tell Palin isn't doing anything different.

59. I am one of the bad guys
I am married and have one small child. I work at a small non-profit agency that provides emergency aid to anyone in need. I worked and put myself through school and got my masters. I have a second job teaching to earn extra money and because I secretly love doing it. I visit my mother and my elderly grandmother weekly for family time. I pay my taxes like anyone and know it is my civic duty. I vote regularly. I get regular physicals. I am already worried about my daughter dating, and she is not out of diapers yet. I cry every time I watch "It's a Wonderful Life." I miss my dad, who passed away 6 years ago. I love a summer evening grilling burgers. I am a husband, a father, a son, a neighbor, a co-worker, a friend, a brother.

I am the enemy.

This rhetoric crops up everywhere on the political spectrum, especially in times like these I suspect. Demonizing those who do not believe the same as we do. It happens here at DU. I try not to do it, but it happens. I try to set the tone for any discussion I am in, but I know sometimes I can get drawn into name calling too. But I do try.

I am calling on every conservative, Republic, Neo-Con, or whatever you want to call yourselves reading DU right now to denounce this type of hatred and flame fanning. I am begging you. I will make you a deal, if you do it, I will do it here. I don't want to see anymore violence against our husbands, our fathers, our sons, our neighbors, our co-workers, our friends, our brothers because of political divide. Please.
