go down in history as the worst President ever! I told my spouse that at the time--KNOWING we were in for some HELL in the next few years. What an understatement:mad:

Living in Texas, I watched what a crappy governor he was, but the repub machine had a powerful agenda to help shove him in office. Ironically, this was what set the wheels in motion for what we are seeing today.

History will have one HELL of a story to tell!:D

3. Not so much '00. But I remember sitting up in our bed in '04 at about
3:00 in the morning crying. Both my husband and me crying. We couldn't believe it. We were both devastated. I remember walking around in a fog for a couple of days.

4. Same here. It was a HUGE blow.
And I remember being taunted by the GOPers who were on the message board I was posting on at the time (it was a mixed bag, politically). I went on to be disgusted for four more years.

5. A lot of people knew what a P.O.S. he was...but the media refused to spread the word.

There were things that happened during that year that I did not know about until I saw Michael Moore's movie!!!

I was devastated when Gore conceded...I KNEW it was a theft..

6. I remember simply just being in disbelief.
And then supremely depressed when Gore conceded. At the time, I remember feeling like he didn't have much of a choice by that point. That it would drag on for months and the media would sully his reputation, which was something I really didn't want. I remember crying during his speech, which is probably to date still the best one he ever gave.

10. yeah, and the repubs were like a dog with a bone...
they were not giving up. After Gore conceded, I figured in 2004 people would see how disastrous Bush really is and we would elect a Democratic President. Then 2004--that was horrible too. It was actually worse for me (if you can imagine it being any worse than 2000) especially when Bush said he had all the "capital" and planned to use it:eyes:

11. Watching him and Cheney give their acceptance speeches in 2004...
I don't recall ever being so angry while watching television. And yeah, the political capital thing REALLY pissed me off. The victory was VERY close. I guess in Bush's eyes, since the SCOTUS didn't have to install him, it meant he had a mandate.

9. I have a very clear memory of one of the debates....
.... and his being asked about his lack of foreign policy experience and his answer sounded something like, "duhhhhhhhhh."

And I thought, "oh dear, we're screwed if this guy wins."

I wonder if any of those 2000 debates are on Youtube? I'll have to look.

12. I'll never forget it. I felt like I got kicked in the gut.
I clearly remember the day the FL Supreme Court agreed to count all the votes, because it was my birthday, and I was elated!

Then, just a few days later, it all went to hell. I was on my way to a family celebration out of state. To say it put a damper on the day is an understatement.

And they had the nerve to tell us, "just get over it." Never. I will NEVER "get over" what they did to this country. None of us will.

14. I was living in Texas and I had a really bad feeling about him
then too. Especially after what he did to the State of Texas. The UnSupreme Court had NO business stepping in the way that they did. I will never forget selection 2000.
