Why McCain is getting this little mini bump....
I think the only event that has been positive for McCain recently is the fact that he rebuked a couple of supporteres (the Obama is an Arab woman, and the dude ewho was worried about Obama) and this got a lot of play.

This is already old news and will remain insignificant unless the incompetent McCain campaign can somehow make it a permanent issue. Highly unlikely, because McCain can't afford to stop being negative.

Meanwhile Obama continues to roll on, with the wind at his back and the Clintons campaigning aggressively on his behalf. And then there is the power abusing Palin problem... her negatives keep climbing and she is dragging McCain down.

And the electoral map gets better and better.

The landslide scenario remains intact.

1. but there is this new controversy
As Campaign Attempts Sunnier Side, McCain Unsure Of Obama/Osama Slam
Speaking as the Chairman for Virginia's Republican party last week, Jeffrey M. Frederick attempted to connect Obama to Osama bin Laden. Time's Karen Tumulty recalls the 33-year old's words:

climbed atop a folding chair to give 30 campaign volunteers who were about to go canvassing door to door their talking points — for instance, the connection between Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden: "Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon," he said. "That is scary."
The remarks drew considerable - and understandable - outrage. Even the McCain camp was angry, and spokeswoman Gail Gitcho unequivocally admonished Frederick's remarks. Well, sort of. Said Gitcho, "While Barack Obama is associated with domestic terrorist William Ayers, the McCain campaign disagrees with the comparison that Jeff Frederick made." Apparently the campaign simply can't quit the Ayers angle.

Though Gitcho seemed outraged by the Frederick remark, McCain later told a local news station that he's not sure what to make of the scandal:

I have to look at the context of his remarks. I have always repudiated any comments that have been made that were inappropriate about Senator Obama. The fact is that William Ayers was a terrorist and bomber and unrepentant. I don't care about that. But, Sen. Obama ought be the candid and truthful about his relationship with Mr. Ayers.

6. That helps make my point.
Which is that McCain's bump is due to his getting some positives from independents from calling out those two supporters. He can't afford to stay positive like that, so this bump is temporary and has no real impact on the race.

9. Well
....McCain did nothing as a US senator to avert 9-11, and some people think bushco LIHOPed the whole thing.

And the more times Mc has to apologize for, or correct his people, the worse the whole crew looks. The plants the Dems put in place at his rallies is paying off.

16. You hadn't heard?
There is a secret core of radical Dems who attend Mc's rallies and find ways to disrupt. At least one of those the other day we're part of the black-op.

14. "Plants the Dems put in place at his rallies?"
Oh really, is that a fact? Do you have a link or some source for that assertion?

Unless you mean protesters outside, or the occasional Code Pink type, and neither of these are "plants", I don't think there were plants.

The suggestion that there are is kinda shady.

2. What bump?
Would this be the 10 pt. lead touted by ABC/Wash Post or the 5 pt. lead touted by Rasmussen? Or the 100+ electoral vote lead that Obama currently has? The only "bump" McCain/Palin seem to be getting is a SPEEDBUMP

7. there is no minibump
its a natural tightening. Obama is at 50 in just about every poll. The rest is statistical noise.

10. Outrageous attacks work. That's why they keep doing them.

They're fooling just enough people with the "Ay-rab, Antichrist, ACORN and Ayers" to still keep things close. But this Campaign is smarter - and we're smarter, too - about fighting the smears, so they're not taking as much of an effect.

That's great news- that is one hell of a lot of dem plants -- their entire audience, in fact, from the youtube videos I've seen lately.

YAHOO! Talk about reverse Bradley! Maybe there are really no KKK paranoids with delusions of grandeur carrying monkeys with Obama's name on them? This is super news.

Phew. Those people were scary. Now it's just their leaders we have to worry about.
