1. What expectations are left unset?
Oh, wow, McNutso's gonna kick Obama's ass.

Believe it?

What would be the point in trying to convince you?

2. Perhaps you misunderstand...
Both campaigns do this (McWhatever's moreso than Obama's). However, I've noticed a definite silence, and I just wanted to know if it was just me.

10. In the first 3 debates (incl. VP), they certainly did.
I also don't see anybody bothering with this one. My explanation is that it would be pointless after the first two humiliations of both McCain & the talking heads who tried to call it for him. Nobody would be listening.

3. Pointless on both sides
For McCain, no matter how low the bar he'll trip over it.

For Obama, no one would believe it if they tried setting the bar low.

8. His wish is my command...
Sorry gang - I'm sitting this one out. My wife and I have already voted a straight Democratic ticket thanks to early voting in our state so I think we'll spend the 90 minutes visualizing Obama winning on November 4th. I'm sure any juicy tidbits will be aired a few dozen times and my brothers and sisters here at DU will provide the correct perspective on the whole event in the post function.

5. McCain proved how bad his campaign is,
and RAISED expectations for himself with his "whip his you-know-what" comment.

6. McCain is finally going to wow the worldwide audience. He has been holding back, you see,...
Wednesday, he must, and he will, . . . .

Fuck it. I can't even keep a straight face typing it.

He is going to have an "accident" in his "pull-ups" around 00:37:51.

He will then spend the remaining debate time wandering the stage looking for Ensure.

7. McCain said he was going to whip Obama's you-know-what
Once again, McCain to dumb to understand how to play the expectations game. The first debate was supposed to be McCain's forte, especially since he was supposed to be debating a "celebrity". The 2nd presidential debate was supposedly McCain's strong suit, town halls. Except it was full of normal people, not the far right fringe. And this last debate McCain is measuring the drapes for the debate after-party. Epic fail!

9. Once there have been two debates, the expectations are already set in voters' minds...

No amount of spin can change it now.

No point in it.... 90 million people already know the expectations.
