Anyone catch Brokaw on Daily Show last night?
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 06:40 AM by yourguide
If I recall, just before the debates we found out that Brokaw is not only a good friend of McCain but he is also NBCs liason to the McCain campaign.

Last night Brokaw slipped and said something we all suspected but no one in the media has been able to confirm yet.

Brokaw stated something along the lines of "The McCain campaign's internals show him down in all swing states"

Up until yesterday, I dont think we've had any confirmation of either camps internal polling, we've only had the public polls. Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into this but when Brokaw starts talking about McCains internals I do feel confident he has access to the information considering how chummy he is with him and that camp.

1. Actually, there were reports yesterday of Obama's internal polling in PA.
To be fair. Campaigns always share their internals with reporters. It's part of how they spin.

Wasnt that the big debate on DU?

I know the campaign's share internals, I just havent seen anyone confirm McCains internals reflecting what the public polls are suggesting.

7. That was never confirmed and new polling suggests that
Obama is enjoying a double digit lead in PA. The thinking was that an Obama staffer sent that email to pump up the PA staff and keep them focused.

8. Two new polls today seem to confirm that those numbers were wrong.
Both have Obama up by double digits in PA. I hope Obama's internal polls were wrong.

2. In this instance, I don't care how Brokaw got the info. I'm too busy doing the happy dance.

4. "Internal" polls are no better/worse than any other poll!
People always talk about the campaign's internal polls like they are some sort of magic reality predictor. All polls are subject to the same MOE, sampling, weighting issue, etc...

6. During the primaries
Obama's internal polling was showing things the public polls werent picking up, all polls are subject to issue but I put a bit more weight in the campaigns polls than I do some of the pollsters like Zogby.

5. You sure he "slipped"? A McCain strategy could very well be
to continue to perpetuate the meme that Obama's got it in the bag—surely every Obama voter might not bother then...
