Obama maintains strong lead in Pa., poll shows
With less than two weeks before the election, Democrat Barack Obama continues to hold a commanding lead over Republican John McCain in the presidential race among likely voters in Pennsylvania, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.

The poll shows Mr. Obama with a 13-point lead in the state. He also holds a 5-point lead among white voters and blue collar voters, groups Democrats have lost in Pennsylvania in recent presidential elections. White men still back Mr. McCain, said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

In a key battleground area of the state, the four suburban counties surrounding Philadelphia historically have voted Republican. "But with an increasing frequency lately, the Philly suburbs have been voting Democratic," Mr. Richards said. "In the new Quinnipiac poll, Obama leads in these counties, 57-31, a tide that will be hard to turn for John McCain before Election Day."

Mr. Obama also leads in Allegheny County(Pittsburgh metro area), 54-39, the poll says.

1. I wonder if Rendell's stated concern is just a head fake...
He claimed to be worried about Obama winning the state, but many of these polls show relatively little to be concerned about. I am not in love with Rendell, but he's a very shrewd guy, and he's smart enough to deceive the Repugs if it seems like a good idea...

2. How the hell does McCain see any chance of winning PA?????
He's losing in Allegheny County, Philadelphia and its suburbs. Those are the population keys to winning PA.

Makes no fu#king sense. Caribou Barbie will be in Beaver County today (NW of Allegheny). It's bizarre.

3. That's what I am wondering also.
What is going on there? Why is McLame/Failin pushing so hard in PA? I'm sure there is no reason to worry, & Obama is going to win PA, but I just don't trust the rePukes & how they steal elections. I wish it was the end of election night already & we can finally say President-elect Obama!!!

4. I think they're planning to steal PA
Some last-minute rallies in Beaver County and then lots talk of Bradley effect, last-minute surges, Western PA racists, etc.
