She is paid by the State to support herself and her kids. She gets more money for each kid she has since she charges the State for her kid-related expenses! The government even gives her housing!

10. Speaking as an ex-Alaskan...

The governors don't do jack shit. Pretty much everything is at the local level, except maybe in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. Seriously, towns like Cordova, Chicken, and Deadhorse are pretty much all on their own. So the Governor just sits in Juneau, raking in cash from taxpayers and oil companies. Winning the state is more or less like winning the biggest lottery in America, at taxpayer expense.

Because she says the oil resources belong to the state, and what belongs to the state belongs to the people of Alaska, so the oil profit money is taken from the oil companies and given to to the good people of Alaska! Re-distributed wealth as it were!
