you've seen the stories, someone hits the lottery for a huge amount and within a few years they're flat busted because they blew their new money on total shit.

3. Oh, no, not at all!. It hasn't taken the Palins anything nearly as long as a year.
Sarah has helped make McCain flat busted in only a couple of months.

Where *does* all the money go? Think about all those travel vouchers. And pause to consider she may not really think they're going to win. But you gotta get something for the ride, yeah?

Now, to me, and I had a bourbon with dinner, so I might be giddy--to me, you add this to the story about her "per diems" and her using Alaska state money to carry her kids to events and stuff, and you start to see a pattern. She gets an opportunity, and she makes something of it. Now, there's nothing necessarily wrong with exercising a prerogative of office, or even enjoying a perk. It's when you milk the thing for all it's worth all day every day, that it starts to make you look a little less like a reformer, and a little more like a user.

Now, I have shopped at Saks "Off 5th" outlet in a discount mall, where we're talking last, last, last season's clothes, and I can't afford it. Marked down, red-tagged, reg-flagged, with a stain on it--I can't afford it. I got a pair of shoes there once, though, because someone gave me a gift certificate. And I still couldn't afford it.

Anyway, back to my observation. She did not do all the shopping herself. Oh no. They had some of this shopping done by that guy who's the robo-call guy. He has some kind of taste. I don't think it's entirely her taste, but it's some kind of taste--the point is--

She didn't mind. It was nice *stuff*.

It was, like, free.

Just like getting picked to be VP candidate is easy if anyone would tell her what she's supposed to do.

She'll do it, if it's important enough.

She'll be against "talking without preconditions", because that sounds really bad. She'll be in favor of the GOP platform on "life"--all of the "planks", if Dobson will like her.

She'll be about Joe & Jane the Plumber even if she knows it's a loser, and be against robocalls if people won't like them. She'll be about reform when it's reform time, and she'll be cue and learn most of the lines.

She'll gas about how Obama might be "tested", and nod while McCain talks about being tested on the deck of the USS Enterprise, not really getting that it was JFK who was really being tested then--like LBJ was a couple years later. Like GHWB was early in the Reagan administration. She will serve, and the people around her better know how to be very loyal. They better *give*.

She'll even *preside* over the Senate, because that sounds like a much better job than they told her VP would be! And she'll wear great clothes, be on tv, and say stuff to lots of people, which is what God wanted her to do anyway, right?

Right. But in the meanwhile--what's in it for her?
