Repub co-worker is NOW VOTING FOR OBAMA after watching the 30-minute ad
I can't believe it. A person I work with who has been a Republican for years and was a big Romney fan during the Primaries told me she and her husband watched the 30-minute ad the other day. I was waiting for her to diss me about it and she said it made her cry! Her husband was touched too!

To hear this from her was an amazing revelation. She has always been a Republican and would just never even talk about a Democrat without spewing Hannityesque talking points...with a smile of course. She's not a bad gal.

But...anywho, we talked about the ad. She said she hadn't really seen Obama speak for longer than 10 seconds before turning it off and she was shocked how good he is speaking. She also said she is really ready for a change. She mentioned that when McCain chose Palin, her husband, a hard-core Republican, told her he could never vote for McCain since she was "a ditz". He has also been unemployed since last April and they have three young girls. So he's been beaten down a bit from the economy.

After seeing the ad, she went on the Obama site and checked out the healthcare stuff and decided she would "give him a chance".

I know it took a lot for her to tell me she supported Obama after all this time and I really believe her. I'm still pinching myself.

2. Curious, what made her decide to watch the ad?

9. She finally listened to his speeches
She also really like Michelle and the kids... she's got three daughters and it related to her. Overall, she is just disgusted with Bush, the economy and is mature enough to see a change is needed.

3. Fantastic.
In a conversation with a friend before the ad aired on Wednesday, I predicted that people would be swayed if they'd never heard Obama in anything more than sound bites or hearsay from right-wing radio.

A couple months ago, my Rush-loving mom told me that Obama "mangles his words" more than George Bush does. I knew then that she'd only heard him in radio clips meant to exaggerate the few times that he has stammered on tape. I told her she needs to listen to the actual, complete speeches, rather than just the few clips of stumbles and hesitation.

I think the ad did that beautifully, and I'm glad to hear that at least someone saw past the spin after hearing him unfiltered.

4. Glad Obama listened to those concern trolls saying the ad-buy was a big mistake.
What a disaster it turned out to be.

7. When I was phone banking yesterday, I spoke to someone who planed on voting for McCain until
he watched that special.

He was impressed with Obama, and I spent about 10 minutes talking to him.

He promised me he would go to barackobama.com.

There you go.
2 more votes for Obama because of that special - and that's just from DUers reporting.

10. Thanks for doing the phone banking!
That call was pure gold! After doing phone banking a lot, when you get to talk to someone reasonably that is willing to open their eyes, it makes it all worth it.

Gobama!

13. That ad turned out to cost about 15 cents per viewer, right? Awesome...
And since DU raised $100,000, that's about 700,000 views that we funded!
