Curiosity - any of you know conservatives who like Palin?
I know one who tends to vote on social issues as well as greed (we can't convince her that Obama would give her a better tax break!). She just loves Palin, even her grating accent. She took the rhetoric hook, line, and sinker, and refers to Palin as a reformer and everything else. Can't accept a single thing bad about her without labeling it as liberals try to sway things. Of course, she immediately believes Hannity when he says something negative about Obama!

Anyhow, I have talked to a few more "educated" conservatives who think that Palin is very scary. One said that he'd be voting Democrat for the first time because he is so worried about the anti-intellectual direction the party is going in. He is an economic conservative and agrees that the GOP has very much pandered to the religious right for a few decades now.

What about the conservatives you know? Any of them like Palin? Anyone willing to vote for her if she really ran(ROFL)for office in 2012?

:scared:

1. Sure, a few fundie relatives I have would...

Unless they became persuaded that women shouldn't be in charge of anything. That's another one of their beliefs, so I don't know how they'd work that one out, but I'm sure they'd manage.

2. Same here, fundie relatives who adore her. I also have non-fundie
relatives who are Repubs for economic reasons (they are rich) and they think Palin is a joke. But they've convinced themselves that McCain will live through the next 4 years and are voting for him.

3. Only online
I know several who are on a local blog. They are madly in love with her and I am certain they would support her for a run in 2012.

It's pathetic. They admit she is hot, they call her a VPILF and just drool over her. It's like how I was at 13 when I was in love with Davy Jones of The Monkees.

7. I used to chat once in a while with an ultra conservative who's actually a real nice guy
I've been staying away from running into him because of how strong I feel about this election and how much I hate Palin, but maybe I'll talk to him on Monday and get his opinion just for curiosity sake.

10. Sadly, two of my best friends at work try to defend her all the time
They're both women in their early/mid-30's who I consider smart, personable and actually quite witty. It's been quite difficult to stomach on the days leading up to the election (perhaps this is why my body let those cold germs take over my body and keep me out of work the past couple of days).

Anywho, both ladies have overbearing husbands who only allow Fox News to be played in the household, so I know that has something to do with it. Still, it amazes and frustrates me how these two people, who otherwise have such keen-seeming intellects, can swallow all the fear from the Fright Wing like it's so much Halloween candy. One of them still can't get past Obama's "scary" middle name. It boggles my mind, and it's been very difficult for me to keep this from affecting our friendship.

11. I'm finding there's no middle ground
Of those people whom I think have smart ideas, well thought out arguements, they are either rabidly in love with Palin and support her with their last breath. Or they feel let down and made feel like the party had been made to look foolish by the McCain decision. I really don't of anyone that feel luke warm towards her. There are some in the "rabidly "for" Palin" camp that I think are desperately trying to convince themselves.

13. My brother loves her
He was going to sit this election out, but now that Caribou Barbie's on the ticket, he's going to get out and vote. I asked him why and he said it's because she's a hockey mom. I reminded him that I was once a hockey mom too, but hardly consider myself presidential material. There is no deterring him. He loves her. Sigh, at least we're in a solid blue state where it won't matter.

14. One of my friends actually voted for the other ticket because of her
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 07:36 PM by chiefofclarinet
And, she knew next to nothing about John Sidney McCain III, much less the truth about Sarah Heath Palin. Though actually intelligent, she behaves a lot like a ditsy blond, and has a tendency of not to think through things well. She was completely overwhelmed with the rest of the ballot; I, on the other hand, knew exactly what I would vote before I saw the ballot, except for the county offices.

Fortunately, she isn't obviously conservative, so I won't rub in McCain and Palin's downfall on Tuesday. I have some other acquaintances that will get an earful, and I will enjoy every minute of it...

16. almost everyone I come into contact with
I think I need a haz-mat suit.

(red state...southern...religious and self-righteous and old habits)

No, they don't have a good reason. They believe the lies about Obama and love Palin for protecting the unborn.

No matter that the born are screwn for life under her 'policies", if I can call her record something as officially misleading as policies.
