Are Any Of You Giving Out Candy To Trick-or-Treaters?
If you are, do you have your Obama/Biden (& Other Dem) signs up? I live in a small northern Wisconsin town. Someone cleaned out our signs last week Sunday, during church. I kind of think its a repuke who was sick of all the Obam/Biden signs. My town is a little democratic island in a pretty red county. I figure it's someone who knows the habits of the locals. Anyway, I was able to get more Obama/Biden signs (& as well as Democratic state & congressional ones), and all were replaced, with more if needed. We are all counting on them disappearing, especially tonight. I'm taking mine in when Trick-or-Treat is over. I just wanted to make sure they were out, just for the exposure, with kids being out with their families. Anyway, Dems in Eland, Wisconsin are pissed, and we're watching! My husband has a game camera (a good one) set up, and if they try, there's be pictures! Just sayin'.

7. I've just pulled mine up. I don't want kids blundering over them in the dark
or other people messing with them later on. I'll plant 'em again first thing in the morning.

I didn't want it stolen and I was worried some kid my trip over it while cutting through the yard to get to our door. Can't wait to put it back up in the morning.

LOl Just kidding. I don't have a yard sign, but my garage door is open enough to see my bumper sticker. My neighbors have been looking at it for months now so it's nothing new. I'm in a Republican neighborhood -- Shadegg is our rep. I know. Puke.

16. It is a ritual here to pass out candy
and I decided a long time ago (15 years ago) to yank the Yard Signs for one evening.

I like to de-politicize Halloween.

It's an american tradition, and I think it transcends politics for one night.

Let the kids have fun.

You should have seen the twins a few moments ago dressed up like the guy from the Lucky Charms cereal box.

17. We kinda do trick or treating differently.
My hubby is the principal of the elementary school less than half a mile away from our house. Some people already know where we live, but we're not keen on EVERYONE knowing where the principal lives....also, we have a very old Old English sheepdog with hip and leg problems and he just goes berserk and usually strains and hurts himself. So.....we put out a chair with a bowl of candy and a sign saying "Old doggy, please don't knock or ring doorbell...take a couple pieces of candy and have a safe Halloween". Then, hubby and I hide out upstairs with our favorite naughty snacks, drinking beer and watching movies.

We don't have kids so we never have to deal with costumes or taking them trick or treating.

"Yes of course, i now oppose gay people having constitutional rights and i'm voting for more war, Bigotry/senseless killing 08!" and with that my spineless neighbor scurried into her filthy house.

And hell yes i'm fun at parties.

Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 07:17 PM by CitizenPatriot
and our second OBAMA BIDEN sign is out front, PROUDLY.

We already had to replace it once. If they steal it again, we'll buy another one.

I love that their kids have to come here and walk past that sign to get candy. What are they going to say to their kids, that they can't come to this house because muslins live there? ha ha! bring it!

plus, our sign drives our neighbors crazy. One of them is parent of horrible, racist Puke senator. Every day, our sign is out there...ha ha!

and PS I am dressed like bloody Palin:-) Trick or treat, Pukes.

27. Well, none of the kids said anything but I have to believe
that the 8 African-American kids who came to my door (with 3 parents watching across the street) knew that this house in a largely white community was safe to come to because of my Obama sign. And when I was waiting to get to my car at the grocery store as an African American man was pulling out, he gave me a big smile and waved me past, and gave me a thumbs up pointing at my Obama sticker. I feel like we are coming together. It feels so good.

now we don't have one. Anybody now if I can still go to a campaign office and buy them? My polling place is on my street (just far enough away for me to have my signs up) and I'd like to pick up 2 more for Tuesday.

30. We sure are...
It was a very nice evening here in Ohio for handing out goodies, and man did we hand them out. (Had tons of full size candy bars, gum, Altoid Tins etc that were given to us, we were the hero's of our neighborhood!)

We had two Obama signs up, and sat in the drive way with our Obama shirts, and buttons. There are only two other Obama signs up in our neighborhood besides ours, and we got positive feed back from the kids as well as the adults all evening long. It was fun!

Go Obama!

31. Plenty of candy, no signs
I bought Snickers, Butterfinger, Reese's and Baby Ruth.

The key is to make sure it's something you like, in case of leftovers. :)
