Ha My Church Took A Stand
I got this email today from my Church:

"November 3, 2008
For those of you who attended church on Saturday night, you most likely found a flyer on your car encouraging you to vote for a particular presidential candidate. Many people made the understandable, but mistaken, assumption that we distributed the flyers.

Please be aware that this action was taken by a third party WITHOUT our knowledge or permission.

While we strongly encourages everyone to exercise their right to vote, we DO NOT endorse political candidates, nor do we engage in lobbying efforts.

We apologize if you were offended. As we continues to grow, we will be asked more and more frequently to take positions on political issues or to engage in the political process. Our sole mission, our only reason for existence, remains to help people who struggle with faith live like Jesus Christ forever.
Thank you for your understanding. If you have additional questions, please contact me."

---I can only imagine these must've been McCain flyers.. I wasn't there Sat night I went Sunday morning. So glad I picked this Church(nondenom)(which is in SW republican area of Ohio)

1. Congrats to your church
for taking the proper action and paying attention to the separation of church and state.

It was more than thirty years ago that my dad picked up his wife and six children, in the middle of a sermon/service, and walked out of church forever. In time, he came to honor our individual spiritual paths and recommend that we seek our own churches. Years later, remembering the moment, I asked him why he'd so summarily scooped us up and dragged us out while the rest of the congregation looked on in shock.

"The reverend asked us to pray for the Green Bay Packers. Why the hell would God care which team wins a football game?!"
