It's 10:30 pm here, Monday night,
and a great big pig just flew past the big window in this study.

I'm watching "Boston Legal," and the commercials come one. One is for Mark Warner, who used to be our neighbor in Old Town Alexandria, before he got into politics. He's a great guy, and his wife is even cooler. Nice girls, too.

Anyway, Mark was our governor and he did a wonderful job. He is, of course, a Democrat.

Now, he's running for John Warner's Senate seat. They are not related. And John Warner is a Republican.

The commercial was for Mark Warner. I didn't pay much attention to it, because Mark is so far ahead of his Republican opponent. But then the commercial wrapped up with this line:

"Mark Warner - the perfect man to carry on John Warner's legacy."

A Democratic contender invoking the name of the Republican he hopes to succeed. And invoking it - quite appropriately, I might add, because John Warner's been a great Senator - in a positive way.

That was when I saw that great big pig flying past, and I suddenly realized that all the old rules are now archaic and a whole new game is in town.

Man, if it all works out tomorrow, this is gonna be incredible..............................
