I can't sleep.
This is like Christmas Eve mixed in with how I felt prior to the 2004 Utah-BYU game which put Utah in the Fiesta Bowl, making them the first non-BCS team to ever play in a BCS game. I knew in '04 the Utes would win against the Cougars, but I was still nervous because nothing is a sure thing and there was the thought it could be a close contest.

That is how I feel now. I know Obama will win, at least I think he will, but there isn't a sure thing and it might be a close contest. Regardless, I'm more excited than nervous, but the mix is not helping me right now!

6. I'm fairly confident Obama will win...
But I want it to be over quickly, hence my wondering about the tightening polls in FL, NC, and OH. I don't want it to be close.

A year ago to the day, I had my second brain tumor in seven years removed. I asked Him that I live to see this Historic day. And I think I made it. And after 14 consecutive years of Rethuglican rule that has decimated the America I know and love, I am here to watch the sea change in American Politics come to fruition. GOBAMA

15. Sleepless night here too
Longtime lurker, just joined the board to be sure of keeping up with the board as the election progresses!

I couldn't sleep at all last night - got an exam today which would have been one thing but combined with the nervousness over the election I just watched the news channels all night! What a shame about Barack's grandmother; she may have missed seeing the result, but she at least lived long enough to see the way he's run his campaign with dignity and honesty, showing the world you can conduct yourself with class in the face of vicious opposition.

16. Same here in North Florida
Kept waking up every hour or so feeling like I had slept the whole night.

Can't wait to go vote when the polls later this morning.

This is going to be a long day waiting for the polls to close and the returns to start coming in but well worth it.

Third times a charm, after what happened to us in 2000 and 2004.

21. haha, just like a kid on Christmas Eve.
Gosh, I remember those nights, where you woke up maybe after an hour of sleep thinking you had slept for five. Then you look at the clock, only to realize it was a 60 minute nap.

Ah, this is our Christmas Eve and there is a big gift nicely wrapped under the tree with our name on it! :D

I was driving up to Logan, Utah for the Utah-Utah State game when the Bruins were getting the crap kicked out of them by BYU and I thought, "Shit, they're good", but now I just realized -- and no offense -- UCLA sucks.

But yeah, I hate 'em too! :D

29. I woke up about an hour ago and can't get back to sleep -
I'm in shock (the good kind) that Obama had 80-100 thousand people in Manassas earlier. That makes me feel good - Manassas has been a VERY red area of VA.

It's raining here in Richmond this morning so I hope the lines aren't too long...luckily it's not really cold.

Counting the hours now!

31. Me neither. But I'm getting housework done in the meantime.
The floors are all mopped. I shampooed the area rug in the living room. The kitchen is sparkly clean. The laundry is done and folded. I even dusted! All of this, done after midnight.
I have my gumbo ingredients defrosting right now. This evening will be a day for gluttony!

My blue devotional candles are all lit throughout the house. They'll burn all day and night. Looks really nice.

Nothing much left for me to do. I'm laid-out on the couch, waiting for these two Tylenol PMs to kick-in, Jake (my akita) laying on my legs. We're going to have a really nice day. :)

36. Welcome to the night crew.
I'm always on at this time and it's nice to have this many people still posting.

I have a dance studio and was a professional dancer years ago...that combo you just described is like stage fright. Excited and nervous and sometimes it feels like you can't go out there.
But, most students say after the first step you relax and start to enjoy it. Just think when the first big State comes in Obama.

I felt a Christmas Eve feeling tonight too. Something special in the air.

46. My insomnia is making me reconsider my plans to vote-- I might go in much earlier
I was planning to go in around 10ish because I wanted any sort of possible backlog from voters who camped out to be taken care of before I come in to vote. But now I'm thinking of being one of the early birds, screw the wait.

Well, I did sleep some just that the adrenaline made me wake up far earlier than I would normally wake up at.
