A report from Chesterfield County Virginia
I live in a suburb of Richmond and vote in a small neighborhood community center. In all my years of voting I have waited inside the building at most for an hour or more. I've never seen a line that extended beyond the doors of the building. It's always an easy, relatively quick and painless process. I also must add that Chesterfiled is one of the state's most republican counties.

My husband and I went this morning at 7:00 am as soon as the polls opened, and the line snaked around the entire parking lot. There must have been 4-5 hundred people standing cheerfully in the chilly rain. Hubby has an 8:30 doctor's appt so we couldn't stay so I'll go back and try later this morning.

I have never, ever seen anything like what I saw this morning in any election and I cannot believe those people I saw this morning were all waiting to vote for McCain. Fingers crossed, but I think Virginia could be going blue!!!!

:bounce:

4. I think what I saw
was probably a 2 hour wait at least. Maybe more...
I can't wait to go back in a while when the early-to-work crowd dies down a bit. Luckliy, I'm off today.

:)

3. Yay! ??? Saw former Gov Wilder on Maddow show. He was concerned...
He was concerned about whether VA was really ready for the large numbers of voters that were going to be turning up to vote. He said he'd spoken to the (Dem.) Gov., and he assured Wilder that VA was "ready to go." Still, Wilder was concerned because VA had never seen the numbers of voters before that were going to be turning out this time.

One good thing is that since the Gov. is Dem. (and isn't that where Dem. Sen. Webb is from?), it won't be a strong Republican influence actively trying to keep large nos. of people from voting.

5. I live outside the city of Richmond
Reports on the local news said they were already experiencing difficulties with their machines and were handing out paper ballots.

I waited for an hour 530--630AM. I have never waited more than ten minutes at this time of day. Hugeness here in the Richmond area
