You are not going to frigging believe this one...
or maybe you are.

We just ahd a lawyer in here who's doing pro bono work for the election and he told us that in South Philly, there's a bowling alley wherein the polling place is down a gigantic flight of stairs. There is no handicapped access, so his law partner who showed up there this AM asked the poll guy how older folks get down there. The guy replied that older people and handicapped generally don't show up to vote so it's not a problem, but if they do and can't negotiate the steps, they just tell the guy at the top of the steps how they want to vote and the guy goes down and votes for them.

You just can't make this shit up.

Barrier free polling places have been mandated by law now for years.

14. Well, maybe it's because here in NJ all polling places
are accessible to the disabled and have been for quite some time. Our town had one where you had to go down two flights of steps until about 10 years ago and we had to change it to comply with the law. I believe you that other states might still have this problem but wonder why public advocates are not taking legal action to change it. The laws are there - they just need to be enforced.

12. Action being taken...
but I'm telling you I treat people who GO INTO THE VOTING BOOTH WITH THEIR 'CONSTITUENTS'. I can't be any more specific than that but it's everywhere here. This is the only 'machine city' left since chicago became more civilized. At least that's what we're told here.

That's a bunch of BS. Some guy just votes for those not able to maneuver the stairs!!! And this guy is under oath, I guess, to vote how these disabled persons tell him too? (Right.) That's crap.

My polling place was changed from the train station to fire station because there wasn't enough handicapped parking at the train station.

21. We can't get some new election standards passed fast enough.
Reasonable access (including wheelchair ramps, etc.), number of voting booths per population of registered voters, open source software programs if they insist on using machines - which need to be run by the local election commissions and subject to audit.

23. As I said...
it was already reported...

The media here, BTW, is really pro-McCain..., channel 6, to an extent the Inquirer, despite their lukewarm endorsement of Obama which included a dissent(!)...and they are cover-up artists.

but I called someone over at the Inky and told here...she's on it. so she says.

and a "black line" that leads to the parking lot?
