I just voted, and not since 1972 have I felt this strong about an election
I cast my first vote for president in 1972 (I was still 17 in 1968). Then I voted against a man who stood for war, divisiveness, pettiness, deceit and oppression.

Today I voted for a man who represents hope, unity, peace and the rule of law.

Until today, I was proudest of that vote in 1972. Today, I am most proud of my vote, and who I voted for.

There were tears in my eyes as I left the polling place.

Tears of gratitude, tears of joy.

1. Ditto here, Garth
I will be 58 on November 17th. I remember how excited I was in 1972, when I got to vote the first time, proudly casting my vote for the great George McGovern.

I'm always surprised when I hear how some people have never voted in their life. I couldn't wait when my first chance rolled around.

2. I turned of age in 1976
This is the first time I wasn't just voting against the other candidate. This time I was voting for a presidential candidate for the first time (and against the other one too).

3. I cried, too
Me, a white woman of a bit more than middle age. Tears were running down my cheeks and I was so proud to be a Democrat and an American at that moment. Okay, I'm crying again.
