I voted! (NH) Obama volunteers, canvassers everywhere! "Recession Republicans" signs! I bought a pie...
It was exciting out there today. Weather is absolutely fabulous today - no reason not to vote! Obama canvassers had visited me while I was still sleeping (I slept late). I got to the polling station and there were several young people with Obama stickers all over them hanging out there. Voting was brisk but smooth - besides the guy in front of me who held up the line 'cause his name wasn't on the voter list (he can same-day register - no problem). I drove through town to go get a cream pie for tonight and saw 3 sets of Obama canvassers, none for McCain. Wavers at the rotary - thumbs up for Obama, thumbs down and a loud "BOOO!" for the McCain wavers. I got a little weepy-eyed in the supermarket when they had "I'll take you there" on the in-house music. I bought a nice cream pie to celebrate with tonight!

I'll Take You There - The Staple Sisters

Oh . . . mmm
I know a place
Ain't nobody cryin'
Ain't nobody worried
Ain't no smilin' faces
Mmm, no no
Lyin' to the races
Help me, come on, come on
Somebody, help me now
(I'll take you there)
Help me, ya'all
(I'll take you there)
Help me now
(I'll take you there)
Oh!
(I'll take you there)
Oh! Oh! Mercy!
(I'll take you there)
Oh, let me take you there
(I'll take you there)

etc...

Obama's gonna take us there!

Something good is going to finally happen in this country! :)

Oh, and...

Polls tightening my ASS!

2. I looked on the voter list as she checked off my name - ALL DEMS!!
I was the only "uncommitted" voter there and I'm a hardcore Dem!

4. I had the warmest feeling I've ever had up here
I'm normally gaurded due to the large number of Republicans here, but I was smiling & looking at everybody - I could tell the Dems because they were beaming like me! I was even cheerful when I met my (I think) Republican neighbor & talked about how they lost most of their savings in the market. I wonder if they voted Dem this time?

5. "I wonder if they voted Dem this time?"
I wouldn't be surprised. The Repubs have lost New England. It used to be the heart and soul of the moderate Republican Party. They've been abandoned and they're pissed. Just before the Civil War Sam Houston warned the South that Northerners are slow to anger, but once they lose it, they're implacable. It'll be long time before the Pubs get this part of the country back -- if they ever do.

6. My born and raised a "moderate" Republican coworker is a huge Obama supporter
He asked in a critical way if another of our Republican coworkers was voting for McCain, the coworker said "maybe" (which means yes) and we both would not give him eye contact after that. Republicans are personna non-grata up here in NE these days.

7. When Graniteheads vote for a Dem majority in their state leg,
you can bet Pubs are on their shit list and that's not a good place to be.

11. We know fakes when we see them
These idiots in my town like to pull out 1980's Republican bullshit crap like "welfare state" & "tax & spend" (or the irony) etc. No wonder people don't take them seriously any more.

8. Obama's ground game will make a difference.
The Republicans are mobilized too, out of fear and desperation, but Obama's campaign has proven its mettle.

I've been a very small part of it and I've been amazed and moved by the positive energy.
