I'm having horrible 2004 flashbacks....
I just remember the changes in mood and tone throughout the day

Could we win this?
Long lines to vote early....must be enthusiasm...turnout is on our side, right?
Oh no, reports of some voting problems....now I'm getting nervous.....dirty tricks......
Nope I think we can win this.
Can we win this?
Wow...lots of posts on DU saying to be confident. O.K. I'm officially confident.
No I'm not.

Then the first reports started coming in and the first exit polling and it was showing that we weren't doing as well as we thought.

I hope these are just bad flashbacks and I know things are different this year. But man, it's hard to shake old habits. I now know how a beaten dog feels when someone inadvertently makes a sudden move.

2. This is completely different from 2004
Not the dirty tricks they're trying to play--no, those won't ever go away--but the position of strength we're in and the tight ground game Obama is running.

10. That's what my son told me today
when I called him all freaked out. "It's not 2004."

so for a few minutes I felt better... Just a few.

I cannot be rational. I have been so disillusioned over the past 8 years. How can i have faith that the american people will finally come around to sanity over fear?

Hang in there
the end is in sight. We are almost there. There won't be theft without a huge pushback from the citizens of this country. We're more united than ever.

7. In 2006 I stayed up until 4am PST.
I was terrified that if I fell asleep I'd wake up and find the results flipped like they did in 2004.

If the news is good or results unknown it's gonna be another long night.

Whatever happens, we won't be alone.

11. 2004 was a toss up at this point. This is different in a lot of ways. 3 things.
It isn't paranoia if they really are out to get you. The numbers in 2004 and now are very different. Kahlua and milk tastes pretty good right now.

12. Actually the exit polls showed us in good shape in 2004.
It wasn't until later in the evening things started going very sour.
