County Where Palin Hailed "Real America" Voted Overwhelmingly For Obama

Remember Guilford County, North Carolina, the place where Sarah Palin said she was happy to be in "Real America"?

Well, the North Carolina numbers are now all in, and guess what: Obama won this "Real American" county -- by a landslide.

Yep -- Guilford County voted 59%-41% for Obama.

In Palin's defense, maybe her "Real America" line didn't refer to this specific municipality, but was generally referring to North Carolina as a whole. Oh, wait...

10. Yes. Greensboro, High Point, and lots of smaller towns.

Kerry carried Guilford County in 2004, too, but by a smaller margin (51% - 48%). Obama carried Guilford County 59% - 40%. Very proud of my home county this week.

I think when Palin made this stupid comment was when she was speaking in the town of Elon (home of Elon University), in the extreme Eastern part of Guilford County, adjacent to Alamance County, which is quite red. (And went for McCain.)

FWIW, the 8th district (Charlotte suburbs) dumped their five-term Republican congressman, Robin Hayes, who was leading by a wide margin in the polls UNTIL at a McCain/Palin rally in October he made this asinine remark: "Liberals hate real Americans who work hard, succeed and love God." His Democratic challenger, Larry Kissell, won 55% - 45%.

THAT is justice.

21. Is the east coast becoming another left coast?
We came up short on just two states. If Obama had won Georgia, it would have made it only one left to turn blue next time.
