1. And U S Sheriff and Interpol.
And a taser, for good measure.

4. Probably NOT an unreasonable precaution for a President (or any politician that matter)

to use hand sanitizer.

How many people's hands do you think he has to shake a day?

How wise would it be for the President to come down with the flu or a cold? These guys work about 18-20/7/365 (yes even *) and travel a lot and meet a lot of people and it HAS to be tough on the old immune system. I've just travelled to England on business and guess what? Sick already in under a week.

I don't fault Bush for the hand sanitizer. I fault him for his confrontational winner take all political style that refused to compromise and refused to acknowledge that he didn't know everything.

Doug D.

5. Sorry. You don't do that in front of the person. You exercise
a small amount of restraint. It's like assuming that Obama has dirty hands.

I have been at plenty of functions with some seriously high up individuals and no, that's not the protocol in the least.

Al Smith dinner ring a bell? Didn't go this year, but have in the past and the candidates offer a receiving line and don't have 'hand sanitizer' right there.

6. Well I don't think Barack was offended by that part...
I think he was offended by Bush's style of talking down to them if I read it right.

For all we know this may have been the Secret Service's suggestion about the hand sanitizer. I would not be offended as I've been around a lot of politicians and know that they have to shake a lot of people's hands. It's NOT just about protecting Bush from Obama "cooties" it's also about protecting Obama from Bush "cooties" and protecting Obama from whomever else's "cooties" Bush might have picked up by shaking hands.

Sorry to turn all Howard Hughes on you but...

I think Barack agrees with me.

7. Huh. Unless you know him personally, I would think he'd disagree.
He certainly shook a lot of hands at the Al Smith dinner, and frankly to give credit where credit is due, so did McCain who is probably more at risk of a serious flu that *.

So, I disagree. Completely. It was designed to embarrass Barack. Pure and simple.
