And it looks like a few married couples casted "write-in" ballots for themselves...

1. Where do these additional votes come from? AFAIK the recount
hasn't started yet, so why do the #'s keep changing?

15. I know Al gained 100 votes due to a typo.
Someone entered 24 votes to his total when he was suppose to have 124, That was just one precinct.

3. I do believe that the SOS has to obtain the official results from the county canvassing boards
They are sending him their final totals.

The race, I believe, has to be certified before a recount can begin.

4. Amazing - 2340 votes for "Write In" -- not the write in candidate, but the name Write In

8. That might mean they left it blank after marking write-in or the answer was illegible.
Or you might be right.

9. I imagine the voter filled in the "write-in" oval then didn't write a name.

13. If I'm not educated enough on a candidate, I'll usually write in "Krusty the Klown"
It's never for major races, but things that I haven't researched enough. I'd rather throw the vote away than vote based on how many yard signs I saw.

11. The paper ballot hand recount begins on November 19th.
The vote fluctuation is due to basic clerical accounting errors, such as transposing numbers or reporting 24 voted instead of 124 etc. That is why Coleman's lead is slipping. This happens in most elections, but the lead is usually so decisive, that the tightening of 300 votes isn't so newsworthy. With squeaker elections like this one it makes ALL the difference.

From Al's site:

"Here’s where we are now: Right now, each of Minnesota’s 87 counties are conducting a review of the election results. By November 11, all of the county canvassing boards will have certified the election results. By November 18, the State Canvassing Board will certify the election results.

"Once that happens, the Minnesota Secretary of State will begin the recount, which will probably take several weeks. The recount is triggered automatically when races are this close to make sure we determine the outcome with certainty. (An automatic recount is triggered by a margin of .5% of the vote right now, the margin in our race is only .01%.) The recount will be orderly, fair, and conducted with one goal: To ensure that every vote is properly counted. We may have to wait a little while to learn who won the election, but we will know that the voice of the electorate was clearly heard."

12. I find it surprising that this might end up being a race in which
the Constitution/Libertarian parties end up throwing it to the Dems.
