*** PALIN DOESN'T KNOW ALASKAN LAW REGARDING SENATE VACANCIES!!! ***
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 10:25 PM by IWantAnyDem
In an interview with Blitzer she talked about how she'd never appoint herself or a family member.

She doesn't even know Alaska stripped governors of the ability to appoint a successor when a Senate seat comes vacant! Constitutionally, the law must specifically grant that power to a state executive and Alaskan law specifically denies that power after the Murkowski debacle!

2. New rule proposal
It would save on bandwidth if we only posted when Sarah actually got something right.

Just a thought.

3. Is this news? I'd be more suprised if she did know the law
Alaska is a very odd place. How they can elect a governor with no intellect, and follow it up but almost voting back a recently convicted felon is beyond me.

6. I read somewhere this is not so clearcut...
There is are two conflicting 'laws'. One (consitution of Alaska?) that says the Governor appoints, another passed after the Murkowski debacle. The constitutionality of the law which overrides the constitution and how it was passed is in question. Another murky area apparently.

This is my understanding of why this is a possibility.

9. I don't think that's exactly correct.
I think there was some difference in the wording of the referendum that we passed when compared to the law as it was finally written, specifically with regard to interim appointments. I certainly haven't been aware of any constitutional question, and I think I would have read something if it was an issue.

8. Maybe she was talking about an interim appointment?
She's dumb, but I can't believe she's so stupid that she doesn't know we changed the law.

10. Maybe her advisors don't want to advise Palin on anything.
So she relies on someone like Todd.

11. I don't know what's going on in her head these days.
She's totally lost it. If I wasn't so disgusted by the way she's been acting, I'd almost feel embarrassed for her. It seems like she's having some kind of breakdown or psychotic break to me. She just seems so different than when she was governor, like some evil twin. It's totally bizarre to me.

13. It's gone to her head. Some people are like that. They have a taste of power.
In this case almost extreme power. Be thankful we don't have a monarchy and she was the daughter of a king or queen and next in line. She probably arrange to have her parents killed so she would be the queen.
