Assume Senate Dems fail to punish Lieberman
Should they be punished? How?

If not why not?

1. How would you know which democrats?
its a private vote so your question is moot.

10. Start with these ones
Evan Bayh
Chris Dodd
Dick Durbin
Harry Reid
Ben Nelson

They want to leave George W. Bush's best friend on the caucus in charge of the committee that would be responsible for investigating Bush's offenses after he leaves office. Is this their way of trying to push those investigations under the rug because they don't want to deal with them?

13. The problem with your list is that Durbin and Reid want him in the caucus but
want punishment such as relieving him of his chair. You never will know on
how they all voted next week. I'm for him staying in the caucus but against his chair.

Others want him out of the caucus and still others want him in the caucus and have
him keep his chair.

You won't get a straight answer from all Senators on this private vote

2. All Dems will be punished if Lieberman isn't
because he will turn and stab them in the back when they least expect it--and need him the most.

4. And if we fail to punish Senate Dems for not punishing Lieberman
Should we be punished? How?

If not why not?

==============

But seriously ?

No, just ADD MORE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS to their ranks in 2010. Get us more seats. That may marginalize the more timid ones.

WHY NO PUNISH?
Perhaps they are waiting to give Obama a bit of time to demonstrate why he prefers not to eject Lieberman right now.

5. So what, you're going to punish the Senate Democratic Caucus as a whole?
How would you plan on doing such a thing?

7. Lets see...
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 12:34 PM by S_E_Fudd
Economy in a major shitter...and sinking...

Two wars dragging on into their 6 and 7th years...

Stock market has shed nearly half its value...

The American auto industry is about to die...dooming millions to potential unemployment...

OPEC has us by the short hairs...

Climate change getting worse...

47 million people without health care...with untold numbers undercovered...

And finally, a brand new President elected who actually thinks all of the above are problems and should be solved...

So what is the dem blogosphere's top issue? Any one of those listed...?

No...it's whether recently castrated Joe Lieberman gets to keep his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee in the Senate...

Man, talk about weird priorities...

You're presenting a false either/or depiction IMO

8. Personally I'd like to see Joe kicked out of the party, but I accept
that the other Dem Senators know better than I do about how things really work in the Senate, so I'll accept their decision...whatever it is. But more to the issue, I think people are making way too much out of this 60 vote majority. We HAVE to realize that this is the DEM PARTY we are talking about here, not the Pubs! Just because we would have a 60 member majority does NOT mean that all 60 would vote in unison on very many bills. We aren't and never will be "in lock step" like the pubs usually are. Yes, it's better to have more people of YOUR party voting, but there's never any guarantees!

12. What are you expecting to accomplish?
Instead of seeking punishment, we should focus on what is best in helping the Democrats get their legislation agenda passed.
