coincidence?

Addendum: Dubya is the only President "lucky" enough to preside over two separate recessions.

2. allowing Republicans to govern is like letting people who hate vehicles to drive buses
I don't get why more people do not understand that.

3. God is trying to throw you off the scent, like he does with that evolution stuff.
You know, plant false evidence to make you think the Republicans are the problem when it's really the Democrats... Something like that, anyway. You aren't supposed to worry about facts, only about what Republicans tell you is true.

4. It's shear coincidence that we get shorn when the GOP is in charge of the flock
or that we get the wool pulled over our eyes.

5. Only the other day, I read some twerp stating in what sounded like
very authoritative tones that the Repubicans were the only ones who knew how to manage the economy! I couldn't believe my ears, but we'll always hear that kind of nonsense whatever the "business" party ends up calling itself - assuming honest elections show that, like the troops, the people are not as daft as they like to think them, and immediately throw up at the word at the mention of the word, "Republican".

It's just the same in the UK, of course, the same mendacious twaddle from the right. Who had to pick up the pieces in the UK after WWII? Chomsky seems to indicate that there is abundant evidence that the Allies could have stopped the rise of Hitler and the Nazis in their tracks, right up to 1937. Maybe even as late as 1938. But they're rise had been good for the stock-market! Nuff said?

8. This morning I had a discussion with an R county official ...
Nice guy, we have interests in a charity group.

We took about a half hour to knock around some politics, and it was about the same as it is with most. As you noted, very authoritative like in speaking about how the REAL R principles are best for the economy. He said he was giving BO a chance and wanted him to do well, but that, as we hear 1000 times a day, he was worried about this and that with taxes and the such.

STILL very much convinced that the REAL R way is THE way to get the economy right.

The trend here is that Bush really isn't an R - he is from Texas, like LBJ, and really is an old school southern democrat/republican - socially conservative but big government. He pretty much allowed for the reality that on all levels Bush was a disaster, but excused it in that Bush really wasn't an R.

9. Actually, EVERY two-term Republican since WW-II has presided over two.

2 - terms for Ike
1 - full term for Nixon
1 - shared term for Nixon/Ford
2 - terms for Reagan
1 - term for Bush the-not-100%-stupid
2 - terms for Idiot

Add that up. Nine terms. Nine recessions.

12. That's because
all the Repug Presidents inherited recessions from their Democratic predecessors. Yes, every single one. :sarcasm:

14. My best Gomer Pyle: Surprise, surprise, surprise!
As the late, great Molly Ivins noted, Republics stink at governing the country. On the flip side, they're great at whining and destroying the Constitution. I just didn't know they were great at tanking the economy too!

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.
