In politics, you first campaign to your base (Primary), then the center (Election), then,
you can do what ever the fuck you want?

Anyone remember how bratboy campaigned to the "compassionate" conservative middle? Then took a HARD right turn after he was selected? Think that was an accident?

Politicians do this ALL THE TIME! That is how they get elected. They can say and give all the warm fuzzies, and single-issue accolades their base would like to hear, to the exclusion of the center and Independents. But then, they'd never get elected.

I am not AT ALL worried about Obama or his cabinet appointments. He knows what he is doing, and whether they are center or right, they take orders from HIM.

It's all a game of chess, people. And not checkers.

1. THE PRESIDENT is the progressive in the administration....
.... I think that's what we're missing.

Barack understand that, in order to get things done, you have to have balance. If a progressive President appoints a progressive cabinet and then tries to work with a Congress, the majority of which are trying to get elected in two years .... then we end up with what we've had for the last 8 years. Nothing.

You gotta have balance .... it's like being a Jedi but w/out the cool weaponry. :)

2. My point was that even though he appoints centrists, he can still
move the agenda to the left when he takes office.

I'm just not sure I can aticulate what I mean very well. :)
