Quazy Quote Quiz: Who said the following?
I was saddened to learn that at a time of national trial, when a president-elect is preparing to take office in the midst of the worst financial crisis in over seventy years, that the Republican National Committee is engaged in the sort of negative, attack politics that the voters rejected in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles.

If you said Newt Freakin' Gingrich you'd be taking home a fabulous prize! :wtf: Apparently, sometimes he acts like less of a douche.

1. He's still a douche--just a cynical douche who's trying on a new veneer...
...to see what he can gain by attempting to sound reasonable.

2. When he apologizes over his comment about "gay fascism", I'll be more impressed.
But the comment you posted sort of puts him on the road to less douchbaggery.

4. I'm sure it's transient - he'll be back to full douchebaggery within 24 hours
He really is an asshole of the highest order.

7. Yes, I'm sure you're right.
He'll be back to 24/7 douchebaggery after Obama takes office. No doubt. The rightwing smear machine will fully kick in at that point.

3. I remember in '94 or so, he was part of a PBS debate panel.
One of the other panelists was George McGovern. Regarding nasty Republican campaigning, he observed to Newt "You live by the sword, you die by the sword".

I don't think he realized at the time that the sword would be used by Republicans in a self-inflicted mortal wound.

5. The difference between Obama 08' and Clinton 92'..
..some high profile Republicans are not going along with it. Everyone's shitting their pants about stuff-- no time to be stupid douchebags.

8. There is a fight for the party right now
Between the Rush Limbaugh Hannity followers who want scorched earth and the slightly less crazy people like Gingrich who want to repackage the same bullshit in a new wrapper and try to re-sell it like 1994 again.

All I know is I'm enjoying their knife fight
