Support for the LGBT Community by Barack Obama
http://change.gov/agenda/civil_rights_agenda/

"While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."

-- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007

My question. When, is this going to start? Before or after Rick Warren speaks for you?

1. it already started. His record in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate
reflects that.

2. Then why go backward?
Why choose someone so hateful to do this invocation? As a gay person this hurts.

4. A better series of questions-
Who do we run in 2016?

Or, stated another way, how would you run Barney Frank or Rachel Maddow in the Primary?
In the General?

Because getting equal marriage may come down to just that sort of action.
What are the platforms beyond equal marriage that address the issues of gender/identity?

How do they attract the mythical center?

5. How about his cabinet choices?
Isn't that a beginning? 2 minutes to Warren versus appointments to his cabinet.

6. I'm sure he'll give us plenty of pretty words.
He seems to have an inexhaustible source of those.

7. "promise of equality"
"I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman." - Barack Obama

I'm failing to see where "equality" falls into this statement.

8. He doesn't become President until he's sworn in on Jan 20
Have people already forgotten the alternative (McCain/Palin/Huckabee/etc.)?

I'm almost certain that gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states before Obama's term ends. Something tells me that the left will just find another reason to hate him (the evidence is in how the choice of Lowery is being ignored, along with the other appointments Obama has made).
