Did Charlie Rangel hint in this interview that it won't be Caroline?
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 06:22 PM by ClarkUSA
I report. You decide.

A WNET interview with Rep. Charlie Rangel offers a tantilizing glimpse into politically-loaded pronoun usage:

RAFAEL PI ROMAN: Lastly, I know you talked to Governor Paterson about the replacement for Senator Clinton, I was wondering if you have any favorites among the candidates that are being discussed?

CONGESSMAN RANGEL: Well the governor has already made up his mind and he shared it with me, and I support that he's going to select the best possible candidate that he can.

RAFAEL PI ROMAN: When are we going to find that out?

CONGESSMAN RANGEL: When he selects him.

The guessing game continues... :P

2. Dem machine gave us Andrew Cuomo. Rammed it through fearing he'd self-destruct like past races.
Not the brightest, best, and can be a thug. That said, people are happy with his tenure as Atty Gen. Just that he is backed by the machine, many of whom also wanted that seat. Like Nadler.

This will get ugly, and after many moves by Schumer, including the recent local election, to prop up his party leadership. He will not want an Obama friendly candidate, who will undermine what he's been building.

4. I'd be surprised if it were Cuomo, honestly.
I thought he was more interested in becoming governor. He's early in his first term as AG, you'd think he want to be there a little longer - it's quite a platform, with Wall Street issues being so front and center right now.

But if "him" is right, then I have no idea. The Mayor of Buffalo, maybe? He said Caroline would be a good candidate, but I don't think he stated he didn't want it.

5. I like Cuomo for the position myself
We never have representation in the western half of the state anyway.. so if it has to be someone from the rest of the state..Cuomo would be my pick

Rangel is just speaking about what he doesn't know.

7. Like Rangel would know.
I'm guessing Patterson is keeping his distance from under-investigation-Rangel right about now.
