Who would be better for 2012? Bush or Palin?
Edited on Fri Jan-09-09 12:54 PM by galaxy21
Who would ensure victory for Obama?

Brother Bush: Hey, if Obama can convince everyone McCain is another Bush, then it shouldn't be to hard to convince them Bush is another Bush. I think he probably will win the senate seat in Flordia, but I don't think he can get elected anywhere else.

Palin: Well, she is a national joke. Also, from an entertainment point of view, I would love to see her run again.

1. I just want Sarah to go away,
and whatever she decides to do in 2012, we here in Alaska inevitably have to deal with her for the next two years. I don't think I can stand the drama.

2. Isn't she still quite popular in Alaska, though?

6. She loses popularity by the day.
I've seen conflicting poll results, but if comments in the Anchorage Daily News are any indication, people are fast becoming disenchanted. Her little press release yesterday has rankled the ADN's editor, and a battle seems to be brewing. I think the more she plays out this "poor pitiful me" routine as regards the media, the less sympathy she's going to garner.

In case you missed it, http://community.adn.com/adn/node/136414 and be sure to read the editor's blog linked therein.

7. Palin does come off as very whiny
The only thing I think she has a right to complain about is the rumours about her not being Trigg's mother. Even as someone who dislikes her, that was probably ridiculous. Everything else though, wasn't unfair. From what I remember the press were actually quite excited about her when she was announced.

11. Maybe the rumors about Trig are unfair, but
they're out there, and it would seem that if she is sincere about wanting the speculation on this to die down, she would provide a birth certificate, real medical records or something. Maybe she thinks that's an invasion of her privacy or whatever, but she's a public figure who promised the residents of Alaska that she would be open and transparent. In fact, she has been anything but -- and this persistent rumor about Trig is just one of many questionable things about her. All that one can deduce from this is that she loves the spotlight and craves the attention, and if she can keep the "mystery" going, while at the same time acting all hurt and put upon, all the better. She complains about the media, but she plays the media like a fiddle. Without the media, she'd be a nobody.

4. Old Jed is not running for the senate seat in Florida...But be sure Bush
Edited on Fri Jan-09-09 01:07 PM by LaPera
will be running for president in 2012 or 2016 depending on Obama's popularity in 2012 and with all the bullshit & messes left to Obama by Jeb's older brother Georgie, it's difficult to say....the corporate mainstream media will do all they can to put all the blame on Obama for GWB fuck ups every chance they get in the next four years.

Americans are gullible and have short memories and usually believe what they are told by television at the moment.

9. Better? Why isn't neither an option!? *vomits*
And both would ensure victory for Obama. Sarah Palin is a nutcase and the Bush name is still unpopular.

12. I understand the fascination with this, as I as much a political junkie as yourself, but can't we
at least have the next couple of months without even thinking of a Republican near the White House??

Even right now, I think there is a fraction of my DNA that can't BELIEVE what is about to happen.

Watching the Obamas walk into and watching Bush fly away from 1600 on Jan. 20th is literally going to be one of the BEST days of my life.

I know, I know....we have to be aware and prepared....but right now I just want to bask in the hope and relief....

13. Hard decision!
You could rely on the memory or judgment or both. In the words of Jesse Jackson, he warned us "Stay out the Bushes", but he didn't provide the historical context for most to understand his warning. Anyone not familiar with the history of the family but curious enough to research it would see the Bush's as part of the ruling elite for generations. They would also be smart enough to see Palin as an uninformed, self-serving power-monger that wouldn't do anything that didn't serve her own self interest.

Considering the education and involvement of current society, I'd consider Jebby to be a serious challenger and Palin to be seen as a mindless tool by anyone with a half functioning brain. Give her an inch, she'll dig a hole a mile deep.
Jeb's smarter than that, but he'd be no less destructive. I think the odds of having more people capable of seeing the lack of value between the two, we're better off with Palin as a candidate than another Bush. To compete with Jebby, we need to have a majority willing and capable to read, research, and reason to see the problems with Jebby. Unfortunately, I don't see a large enough percentage of people willing and able to get beyond the corporate media BS.

It takes a pretty strong mentality to deal with the crap spewed by corporate media and "think clearly for yourself" and not accept the spin and disinformation designed to confuse your judgment.

15. Palin. Gotta be Palin
Sarah Palin is truly a national embarrassment. Jeb might be a Bush but he is actually intelligent and capable of running a respectable campaign. The funny thing is, I think the Bush name would keep him from getting the nomination more than it would the presidency.

If Palin is looking like she has a decent chance in 2012 I will actually contribute to her campaign and try to help her get the nomination.

24. Oh God hear my prayer: Please let the GOP pick Palin!
John Ellis "Jeb" Bush is not to be underestimated. He would be a highly formidable opponent to Obama:

1) He would almost be guaranteed to win FL and TX.
2) His Spanish languages skills are impressive and effortless and he would appeal to a lot of Hispanic voters in a way that none of the other Bush brothers could or for that matter any other short list GOP Presidential candidate.
3) He would have access to a lot of money to back his campaign.

on the other hand Palin is a national laughing stock from a tiny (population wise) state.
