ON Sanjay Gupta...I'm willing to be persuaded he's a good choice...
Could somebody make a case for him?

All I know at this point is:

1)He looks good on tv;
2)He disagrees with Michael Moore on healthcare;

What are the selling points?

Also, if he's against single-payer healthcare, and he often agrees with Big Pharma(and that's the impression I'm getting)what should make me, as a progressive, overlook those points?

Give it your best shot, Guptaphiles!

1. What difference does it make if he's against single payer healthcare?
Thats not going to pass in the Senate anyway. You don't even have the Dem votes for it. And it has NO Repuke support.

4. Well, in addition to that, from what I see Sanjay is pretty much fine with the corporate health
status quo. Do you know if I'm wrong to think that?

I'm just trying to get some info to overcome some bad first impressions.

5. The names Jocelyn Elders or C. Everett Koop mean anything to you?

6. I know them.
I'm talking about the ones who have been in there for the past 15 years. Without google I'd have no idea who replaced Elders. I only know Koop because he hawks life alert on cable.

The imapact of the SG to our lives is very low.

3. If Quentin Young opposes him, that's all I need to know.
I don't pretend to be an expert on every issue. So, I listen to those who are experts, and take the advice of those who've earned my respect. Quentin Young opposes Gupta in this position. That's good enough for me.
