It's getting chilly in DC
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 11:40 PM by goclark
I'm leaving Sunny LA tomorrow morning to fly to DC.

I was using another Weather online source and checking all day long.

A friend from DC called and said this link is much closer to reality....

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalweathergang/2009/01/inaugurationcast_just_like_today.html

What's your best prediction?

I am so glad I got a beautiful all wool coat at the Army / Navy Store for #30 yesterday!

3. "The sun will come out ... on Tuesday .. bet your bottom dollar..."
"that on Tuesday .... there'll be sun!"

I'm not kidding. Like starting at noon.

And this is my cue to say....

"clouds in the morning, sun in the afternoon, read into that what you will."

4. How is it in Tennessee? Does it get as cold as it does here?
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 11:45 PM by Jennicut
Its in the middle of winter that I always start to wonder if my love of the Northeast gets in the way of pure sensibility and need for warmth and sunshine. At least I don't live in North Dakota or Minnesota or Wisconsin. That is what I need to repeat to myself over and over.

9. It was sunny and warm this afternoon....
.. I was out in a sundress (with a little sweater over it) and my F'Uggs and no stockings and I was fine.

But changed into a sweater and cords for church tonight, and had my wool coat and coffee too.

The low tomorrow is supposed to be 9 degrees. Eeek!

10. Sundress! How dare you. I was bundled in a ridiculous looking hat
that the 4 year old, Morgan said I looked funny in. I was cold so I didn't care. Christa, the 3 year old was not too happy this morning, she stuck her face into my furry coat when we dropped off Morgan at preschool. Its going to snow tomorrow. I'm just glad no snow is predicted for the inauguration, I like to see it outside, even if everyone has to suffer...LOL!

11. Wow. I won't complain anymore, that is beyond cold.
It gets below a few degrees here in CT once every two or three winters but never -28.

13. Dress in layers
It will keep you warmer and you can remove what you need to remove.

Also, if you are standing outside, I would be wearing at least ONE pair of socks (probably two pair if not moving around) and have a warm hat to keep the heat in. Gloves will be helpful.

I wish I could be there...I am a native of Northern Va and was born in DC, now living in the south.

You can bet I will be glued to the TV, cheering from "here"....although what I consider "home" is still up there. :applause:

15. Ummm, sorry, but that is not cold - that is downright balmy.
Edited on Thu Jan-15-09 01:19 AM by emmadoggy
It's -16 at my house right now, on it's way to about -22. And that's not counting the wind chill which is expected to be in the range of -35 to -50 degrees. Most schools in the area are closed tomorrow because of the cold.

30 degrees sounds like absolute heaven right now.

Edited to add: Our forecasted HIGH temp for tomorrow is -7.

27. Today, they're saying a high of 17 but that's unusually cold.
Edited on Thu Jan-15-09 10:06 AM by Waiting For Everyman
Normal would be 30's to 40's. I have a hunch the cold will let up a bit by Tuesday. Just a hunch. Mostly because nothing stays the same here for very long.

As long as there's no rain/snow or heavy wind it should be ok. One thing though, remember that after dark it'll be much colder.

(I'm in MD just a little north of D.C. btw, but weather's the same here.)
