5. I made a mistake.....was 60 to 34, not 60 to 38.
Many of the Republicans voted against him due to his "tax" problem.

I note that there appear to have been 3 or 4 Dems who also voted against him.....Saunders, Harkin, Feingold, are the ones I'm sure of.

Note, McCain voted against, Lieberman for.

8. McCain wanted Grahm, so he voted against Geithner!
He thinks he's still running, obviously.

Earlier McCain was on television asking that what be put in the stimulus package be the same thing he has been advocating for, for the last year; corporate tax cuts!

12. Via Politico: Feingold, Byrd, Harkin and Sanders
They also are reporting that Pres Obama is going to head over to the Treasury to make some remarks with Geithner.

13. And there you go.
Feingold and Sanders are almost always on the correct side of the issue, Harkin is generally correct (though I don't share his opinion of Tom Vilsack) and Byrd has been on the right side of most things this decade, which is more than can be said for many alleged "Democrats".

So when these 4 agree that Geithner ain't the right guy, we should listen.

14. Well Feingold and Harkin voted against the repeal of Glass-Steagall
Why couldn't one of these guys have been VP or given a cabinet position? Oh I forgot, they committed the fatal sin of being right on the issues.

I have to laugh about the absurdity of it all to keep from crying.

19. I believe you're confusing Feingold with Feinstein
And aside from similar last names (and being Jewish) the two don't have much in common.

21. If he was blocked it would have been bad for Obama
The Rethugs would have thought they could throw a wrench in Obama's plans. Geithner is not perfect but I am glad he was confirmed, now lets get down to business.
