which would mean he was paid only when called up for active duty, generally one wk-end/mo and 2weeks/yr. I can't stand Graham, but your assertion that military service is analogus to welfare is offensive.
I was active duty for 22yrs. It had it's positives and negatives, but at least, we never had to turn anyone away from the hospitals/clinics because they didn't have insurance or couldn't afford to pay.
