The schadenfreude at DU today is at a perilously high level...
...and I'm not saying that Jindal doesn't deserve it. But does it strike anyone as odd that there are WAY more Jindal-themed threads here today than Obama-themed--despite the fact that our President knocked one out of the park last night while Jindal laid an egg?

My guess is that, after 8 years of hurling catcalls at our idjit POTUS and his gang of thieves, we've all gotten used to coming to DU to unload some aggression and frustration from the daily grind onto the nominal leader of the GOP. But what are we to do, now that President Obama is doing us proud and the Republican party is so weakened that they're scarcely worth the trouble to ridicule? After all, depriving DU of a Republican authority figure to heckle is akin to depriving the body of oxygen--and I honestly don't consider Steele OR Palin in a position of authority at the moment.

So maybe that's why we're taking such disproportional pleasure in ripping former GOP "shooting star" Bobby Jindal to shreds--well, that, and Jindal made it SO DAMN EASY last night.

2. Lost in yesterday's news
was the little snippet about Sarah Palin reaching a settlement with the Alaska State Ethics Board, who had been investigating her for flying her entire family all over the place on the dime of Alaskan taxpayers. They were investigating 40 separate incidents, and she's going to have to pay back the state for nine of them. Her star has set.

4. I have an answer for that, but then again, I tend to have an answer for everything...
...you're right, 100% right.

"...there are WAY more Jindal-themed threads here today than Obama-themed--despite the fact that our President knocked one out of the park last night while Jindal laid an egg..."

Anyone with an abacus and a few hours to kill adding up threads will concur. You are CORRECT, sir!

But here's the deal.

The stench of George W. Bush hasn't left the White House yet.

Last night, a fellow DUer posted a poll and asked about the magnitude of President Obama's speech.

My response was "We just witnessed some TIME CAPSULE-worthy shit."

And we DID.

But the GOP had to throw superstar Bobby into the ring, even though it meant that 99% of the people watching handed his ass BACK to him.

No one's talking about Palin on DU right now because she's yesterday's news, courtesy of her own ineptitude.

The media painted a picture of yesterday's Jindal response as "His Defining Moment" (Google it...it's true).

And it was. He's not ready for Prime Time. He may never be.

In addition to giving President Obama our full support, we must also set aside a little time to encourage our Republican brothers and sisters to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up.

That's why I think we've seen so many Jindal threads...Bush still hangs in the air over working Americans like a dead skunk in the car's vent system and Bobby Jindal is already positioning himself to be the new skunk in 2012.

Fuck 'em all.

:patriot:

7. Jindal was that bad and he had been hyped as their ace card
He was awful.

This is was as bad when my Freeper at work tried to tell me that I was scared about Sarah Palin after she was announced and I told him prepared to watch my party destroy her. She's batshit insane and she has no experience with the media.

Rush Limbaugh is so mad about it he's telling his listeners not to call if they criticise him. When Rush is telling his flock that Bobby Jindal is the best thing in the world and don't you dare question him, you know Bobby Jindal is fucked.

8. I would keep my eye out for a viable woman
to emerge on the GOP side in the next two years. I don't think it will be Palin and Whitman lacks cred with the fundies because she is pro-choice. Any other female GOP governors out there that could pass muster with the Christian right? If they allow Palin to be the one they have absolutely no chance.

If no one else emerges, that would leave Romney and Huck and a not insignificant portion of the fundamentalist bent still consider Mormonism a cult. And I don't think Huck would even be able to make a race out of it.

Then again, if the economy is back on track, we're out of Iraq and we have captured Osama, the GOP will be looking for a human sacrifice anyway.

Oh, sorry. That neck tie reminded me of the one the fellow who drove the ice cream truck in the neighborhood of my youth used to wear.
