Sanford’s White house chances
Sanford’s White house chances
Three reasons South Carolina’s governor might have a shot at emerging as a 2012 Republican candidate for president or vice president and three things that could hold him back:

3 REASONS FOR OPTIMISM

He’s in with the base. U.S. Sen. John McCain had trouble rallying both social conservatives and small government conservatives. Sanford appeals to both.

He’ll have money. Sanford’s business ties make him a formidable fundraiser.

He’ll be what’s new. Republicans are looking for a change in direction, and nothing says change like a fresh face.

3 BIG CHALLENGES

He lacks name recognition. Sanford barely registered in the CPAC straw poll for 2012. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the poll and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin finished second.

He’s from the South. The party is looking to expand itself beyond its Southern base. A Deep South governor might not help.

He will carry S.C.’s baggage. For example, a candidate from the state with the third-highest unemployment rate would have to defend his record on job creation.

(Rejecting the 700 million to help the people of S.C. will be his crucification in the end. How the HELL can he sleep at night with so many people in his state unemployed.)

14. Every time I see this guy's name
I think of Fred Sanford. He's dead and still has a better chance of having a political future than this cretin.

19. He's an archetypical republican. they are of three basic molds
ferret-faced, angular, chiseled nosed, slightly built (ahhhnold would call them girlie-men)...
Sanford, Eric Cantor

jowly, pasty, chinless....
Rep.Hastert, Sen Velcro, Bert, the Turtle McConnell, Macacca-man

rotund, "beefy", reactionary, rapacious....
Rush,
