Sometimes I wonder if DUers know you DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE between Obama or Krugman
Seriously, some folks on DU really concern me with their knee jerk reactions to policy disagreements between Krugman and Obama.

Krugman knows his shit.

Obama knows his shit.

And people who know their shit don't always disagree and often times respect and considers the other person's stance.

And I bet they their reactions to one another are not at all like the reactions of the DUers who feel they must take sides.

RELAX!

PS--Same applies to Frank Rich as well.

1. Rich's (mis-)characterization was shitty...

But I still love both him and Krugman. And Obama.

14. Can't stand Rich
He repeatedly lied about Al Gore in 2000 in order to trash him which help get us Bush. Now he is doing the same to Obama.

15. Rich is a freeper
Just look at how he treated Al Gore in 2000. You can't excuse that.

3. Unintended Consequences
Obama is responsible for them. Krugman and Rich aren't. I think that's the difference in the way they approach problem solving. The solution might be clear - until you're the one who has to deal with the problem if it blows up in your face. When that becomes clear, you might decide to take a more incremental approach.

6. And
Obama has to deal, today, with problems that have been festering for up to 5 years.

All the writers have to do is meet today's deadline.

10. they don't have to get their columns approved by congress, either.
they don't have to make them work in the real world. theory is easy. governing is different.

Great work, if you can get it. Sit on your ass and make shit up, while Obama has so many things pulling at him.....

We are lucky the repubs are out of the WH. At least there's a bit of hope left.
If it were McPalin in there now... could you imagine? I'd friggin' quit, just flat out quit.

20. In all fairness to at least Krugman, he isn't "making shit up." He does cite the actual
experience of Japan, to which he likens Obama's approach, in recent history and how it took 10 years for Japan's economy to recover, while the Swedish approach proved more successful. I would argue that neither Japan nor Sweden (especially) is the U.S. Both countries have basic government supports for people that we don't have such as universal health care and that can make a big difference in how the people can ride out a bad economic storm.

Rich is more of a bloviator; altho I often agree with him. He doesn't cite actual experience in markets, for instance. He has his opinions. I read him. I make up my own mind as I am not a little child...

Rich helped give us GWB, so he's still on my 'shit' list.

11. Also, there are likely multiple solutions to our current...
predicament. Question is: at what cost in dollars and time.

Imho, the nationalization route ignores the foreign policy ramifications of cleaning out overseas ownership who could resort to extortion via our energy supply. That could make the Great Depression look like a picnic.

18. Yeah, but from reading this site, I've come to understand that either
Krugman's right about everything all the time and never makes mistakes; or
Obama's right about everything all the time and never makes mistakes.

I'm just trying to figure out which one's right.

I've already discerned that Obama and Krugman are mortal enemies.

This is the stupidest DU "war"-choosing between an intelligent, progressive voice like Krugman and Obama. I like them both. I really just dislike the kind of knee jerk stupidity that declares Krugman a Freeper blah blah....

This forum has really jumped the shark.

they are starting to sound as wacky as the wingnuts. obama obviously has thick skin and doesn't need a bunch of board nannies defending him at every turn.
