Its so funny. All of a sudden the networks LOVE Paul Krugman?
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 03:18 PM by Thrill
Even Faux has continued to quote his article. MSNBC and CNN too. Every time I turn to one of these networks, they are quoting either Krugman on Frank Rich today? CNN even thought what Arianna Huffington had to say today was good enough to quote several times.

Any guess as to why all of a sudden they think what Liberal Columnist have to say is so important?

1. I noticed that too. Today I've heard the President "giggles",
and how he's screwing up the economy. :eyes:

2. Because Obama's enemies wanted desperately for Obama to nationalize all of the banks
so they could call him a socialist from now till 2012?
Just a wild guess.

Now they are very disappointed that they can't do this,
and that his plan may just work.

Obama may have just foiled them all again.
Remember when Rush Limbaugh was promoting Hillary?

31. Or maybe some think that temporary nationalization, just like we did with the S&L crisis of the 80s
--is an excellent idea, and fuck what the rightwing whackjobs call it?

3. Of course they do. It's like the black Republican who goes out and spews Republican talking points
about how black people should vote Republican and take responsibility for their own actions. That can now exploit Krugman's attacks to bash Obama.

4. Nothing mysterious there, when you consider how they ignored him
conversely for eight years of Bushwhacking.

7. Probably because he is a Noble prize winning economist, and one of the few voices of opposition
Why shouldn't Krugman at least get equal time with a relatively unimpressive Geithner?

9. You are so caught up in Geithener bashing that you totally miss the point
Krugman ripped Bush economics to shreds for 8 years, yet they never called on him like they are doing now. I don't remember ever seeing a single op-ed from Krugman being bandied about by the MSM.

12. No, I get it
He is being given the spotlight because it is generally perceived President Obama and Mr Krugman are both liberals, and one criticizing another is far different than one criticizing the opposition party.

When Bush was criticized by his former Treasury Secretary, it was covered extensively.

Do you think the media plays it straight down the middle?

This willful ignorance/blindness is not I expect to find at DU.

19. Of course not. But any infighting will be covered extensively
Infighting, to the media, is far more interesting than what they term "partisan politics", ie any criticism legitimate or nonsensical from either party toward the other.

17. Uh huh, you keep believing that, bud.
If that were the case, they would've quoted Krugman long before this.

No, they're doing it to undermine Pres. Obama and nothing more. If you can't see that, well you're hopeless.

They're using the left to slam Obama because it works.

You never saw them bringing out Republican or conservative economists who opposed Bush, did you? I wonder why...

23. They're not "getting it" any more than they "got it" during the Clinton administration.
Not saying I disagree with Krugman either. I'm only saying that they are *using* him because he fits their agenda at the moment. When we get another Republican president and if Krugman disagrees with that guy, they'll go back to ignoring him.

pushing.

27. Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with his recent Nobel Prize..
and his huge platform at the Times or his popularity in general.

No, it's all a part of the vast anti-Obama conspiracy.

You Krugman bashers are completely nuts.
