He was just admitting that he did it. That is all.

1. As has been stated repeatedly, the anger is not at his position but his lack of respect for the
issue.

6. if he had been in a slightly different place, time back in the day, he
could easily have landed in prison. he must realize that. he surely understands the toll on families across America who have loved ones incarcerated and lives ruined over a stupid joint. he must know that we can't afford to keep building prisons and housing people who could be working and contributing to society. he must see parallel relationship between al capone's tommyguns and alcohol prohibition, and marijuana prohibition and uzi armed cartels. he must see the advantage of taxing and regulating the stuff, rather than the short term profit that underfinanced police agencies now gain from seizure of pothead's property. what a drag.

8. You be the judge.
ProSense just posted a full transcript.

Here's the part that has people enraged:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DR. BERNSTEIN: Three point five million.
THE PRESIDENT: Three point five million people voted. I have to say that there was one question that was voted on that ranked fairly high and that was whether legalizing marijuana would improve the economy -- (laughter) -- and job creation. And I don't know what this says about the online audience -- (laughter) -- but I just want -- I don't want people to think that -- this was a fairly popular question; we want to make sure that it was answered. The answer is, no, I don't think that is a good strategy -- (laughter) -- to grow our economy. (Applause.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's no big fucking deal, really.

if he thinks pot smokers should be in jail.

just think, if he had been arrested... we may have never gotten a chance to vote for a president obama.

12. Actions speak louder than words.
Edited on Thu Mar-26-09 07:56 PM by iamthebandfanman
Are people still going to jail for marijuana possession?

is pot decriminalized? was he not laughing at the notion of it being legal?

He doesnt have to say it.

Hes done nothing to change it.

If anybody has the ability to stop it, its him.

Sorry, but actions speak louder than words.

So long as he continues to let people be jailed for marijuana possession, hes just as guilty as someone who says the words.

This is also a reply to the other poster who replied to my post.

13. Eh, sorry, you're making shit up
Obama's words nor his actions indicate that he believe potsmokers are criminals.

Try again.
