I thought there would be more crazies there than there were. I'm so glad they didn't embarrass me as much as I thought they would! lol The pres. had me in tears with joy at the sense he makes.

1. The media really played up the controversy
In the end I wouldn't heve noticed anything unless it hadn't been pointed out. One minor disruption dealt with quickly and with style and grace by Obama.

Randall Terry can go drown in his bitter tears.

2. It's damn hard to watch TV with eyes full of tears.
I have never been more proud of Notre Dame and its exceptional leaders like Father Jankins and Father Hesburgh. After President Obama's address, all the notice paid to the protesters seemed so trivial. I think it was a great day for sincere people on both sides of the issue. It was a crushing blow to small minded people who still don't realize we have a great president.

10. I too was impressed
With the class shown by students and faculty of ND. I made some foolish posts on other threads bashing ND. It was a class act and a great testament to their university.

5. They make a LOT of noise on talk radio and Faux News, but they are marginal.
Perspective is a wonderful thing. Sometimes I lose it, to be honest.

6.  You should be very proud!
Edited on Sun May-17-09 03:11 PM by Phx_Dem
It was Notre Dame who bucked the criticisms, some of which came from their own religous leaders, to invite the President in the first place, and they stood by their decision and by the President in the face of a growing controversy.

I'd never even heard of Father Ted before, and because of Notre Dame's decision to invite the President, we all know about him now!

They had a beautiful commencement ceremony. They deserve a huge applause.
